About this listen

Don't date your bodyguard.

It was the one rule he had to break.

Maximoff Hale is a force of nature. A ship unwilling to be steered. Headstrong, resilient, and wholly responsible - the 22-year-old alpha billionaire can handle his unconventional life. By noon, lunch can turn into a mob of screaming fans. By two, his face is all over the Internet. Born into one of the most famous families in the country, his celebrity status began at birth. He is certified American royalty.

When he's assigned a new 24/7 bodyguard, he comes face-to-face with the worst case scenario: being attached to the tattooed, MMA-trained Yale graduate who's known for "going rogue" in the security team - and who fills 1/3 of Maximoff's sexual fantasies.

Twenty-seven-year-old Farrow Keene has one job: protect Maximoff Hale. Flirting, dating, and hot sex falls far, far out of the boundary of his bodyguard duties and into "termination" territory. But when feelings surface, protecting the sexy-as-sin, stubborn celebrity becomes increasingly complicated. Together, boundaries blur, and being exposed could mean catastrophic consequences for both.

Damaged Like Us can be listened to and enjoyed without listening to any of Krista and Becca's other novels.

Unexpected and novel

All the while I listened to this book I kept thinking 'there something sort of Vonnegut-like about this story?' It was not anyone's ordinary romance novel - it was something much more - and hard to pin down. Neo-Scifi-Noir-Romance maybe? The narration was just extraordinary. It took me couple of starts to settle in, but once I did it was pure bliss. Everything came SO alive I found hard not to think about it when I was driving or at work and "casting it for a miniseries". Give it more than one chance if it does not work at first - it's not the ordinary drivel you find in some of these romances - its a whole other creature... Glad I stuck with it.

Dear World This Book Is Amazing

This is my first read from Krista and Becca Ritchie, I just stumbled upon it while browsing Audible. Thank goodness, I did!

Maximoff Hale is from one of the famous family in America, almost like a royalty. His parents are super famous, and so are his uncles and aunts. It's insane how much fame is involved. Paparazzi are unrelenting.

Farrow Keene is Moffy's new bodyguard. Although the two almost grew up together -- with Farrow's father is the famous family's concierge doctor -- they haven't really been friends.

Moffy always had the biggest crush on Farrow but had categorized Farrow on the unattainable department.

It didn't take much for the two to realize the attraction is mutual and pretty soon they were on their way to a forbidden romance. Breaking the cardinal rule to never get involved with your detail.

Moffy's intensity is balanced out with Farrow's laid-back personality. I adore how much they are with each other. Moffy and Jane's relationship is also one of the best part of this series plus they communicate in French.

Moffy, being the eldest among his siblings and cousins, plays the protector and Jane is his second.

The family dynamics in this story is something I had to quickly grasp. I have not read the parents' story. I chose not to, but the book is great with giving us the background of the parents before the spin off.

I cannot wait for the next books. I want to see what's more to come with Marrow.

As far as narration, JF Harding is great! Alexander Cendese, his voice finally found it's perfect match. He brings out Farrow's laid-back, chill personality.

Great Start/continuation

If you're a fan of the Addicted/Calloway series this one is a must as it starts the next generation. We start off with Lily and Lo's oldest son Maximoff and it's just what you would have dreamed of for their son he's every good part of his parents and Farrow is just perfect for him. Narration made this one that much better!

Hot

Love Moffey and Farrow. I couldn't imagine finding out that my longtime crush will be my bodyguard. it could go either way. And I love the way they handled it. To finally find someone to except you for you and can handle all of you isna great thing . But not being able to share it with the world is hard. With his whole life being played out to the world Moffey is protective of his family and his private life. But Farrow will take him anyway he can. You can feel the pull that they have on each other.

Damaged Like Us

Maximoff Hale. We saw Lilo through the pregnancy, we saw them through the birth, and we got glimpses of him growing up through the Addicted Series & Some Kind of Perfect. Now he’s 22 with a new bodyguard that just so happens to be his teenage crush. They have to keep it hidden from their families and the world until their secrets come crashing down around them. Loved the addicted series. Love getting to see their kids start their adult lives out!

LOVE This AMAZING Story!

This was my first book by these authors and I fell totally in love with this story and the characters. The MCs, Maximoff and Farrow, are spectacular characters with off the charts chemistry! They are perfect for each other and have a very strong connection. The secondary characters are wonderful and really enrich the story. I love how close all the family members are with one another and even all of the bodyguards are part of the family.
I really like how all of the kids support Maximoff and Jane even when all of the parents were doubting them. I can't wait to listen to the next book and see how the relationship between Maximoff and Farrow develops!
The narrators did a spectacular job with all of the voices of so many different characters. Especially the voices for Maximoff and Farrow fit perfectly with the characters.

Farrow and Maximoff

I cannot even say how much I enjoyed this book. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this, some reviews are ugly. I’m so glad I didn’t listen, I absolutely loved this book. This was a beautifully captivating and heartwarming journey to go with Maximoff and Farrow.
Alexander Cendese is my all time favorite, anything he narrates is fantastic. He brings life to the character with so much emotion and enthusiasm. I’m taking anything away from JF Harding, he was just as fabulous. These two together made this a phenomenal audiobook.
