About this listen

The son of Maya Angelou, Guy Johnson is a critically acclaimed author and poet in his own right. Echoes of a Distant Summer is the story of Jackson St. Clair Tremain, a San Francisco civil servant who thought he had left his old life far behind. In 1982, Jackson is summoned to Mexico to confer with his dying grandfather, the brutal hustler King Tremain. When King dies, Jackson inherits $50 million - and the unwanted attentions of a malevolent bayou crime lord named Pug DuMont.©2002 Guy Johnson (P)2004 Recorded Books,LLC African American Anthologies & Short Stories Family Life Fiction Literary Fiction Sagas Short Stories

I Won't Say Joe, 'Cause Now I Know!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! Especially after reading the first book, Standing at the Scratch Line. Guy Johnson sure does know how to put together a story. Well written plot and spending much time on character development allows the reader to truly understand the actions the characters choose to take. Well done Mr. Johnson, Well done!

What other book might you compare Echoes of a Distant Summer to and why?

None. (Except for the first book Standing at the Scratch Line).

What about Peter Jay Fernandez’s performance did you like?

One of my favorite narrators, he has yet to prove me wrong, I love his pace, delivery, and how he draws you into the story.

If you could rename Echoes of a Distant Summer, what would you call it?

I would not. It fits.

Awesome

Great story! This book was so great. The author was able to develop the characters, introduce new characters, and keep the story in vivid pictures the entire time. I enjoyed this book immensely. I only hope there is a third book soon!

This book will have you completely entranced!

This book was excellently written and included everything you look for in a book that will keep your attention. You will not want to stop until it’s done. This was better than a movie because you can imagine all the characters and events and twists and turns. I was excited and overwhelmed with emotions throughout the reading. This is one of my favorites and it still leaves much to the imagination with the ending. Food for thought… I love when writers leave the ending that way. Definitely one to have in your library 🤍

Awesome!

This book was awesome. I had no idea it would be part 2 to Standing At The Scratch Line. I believe that this will lead to part 3. I will be looking out for it.
