About this listen

Intergalactic visions, deadly threats, and explosive standoffs between mostly good and completely evil converge in a dystopian fantasy that could only be conceived by the inimitable Walter Mosley, one of the country's most beloved and acclaimed writers

Martin Just wakes up one morning after what feels like, and might actually be, a centuries-long sleep with two new innate pieces of knowledge: Humanity is a virus destined to destroy all existence. And he is the Cure.

Martin begins slipping into an alternate consciousness, with new physical strengths, to violently defend his family—the only Black family in their neighborhood in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles—against pure evil. Think Octavia Butler meets Jeff VanderMeer meets Jordan Peele.

Expansive and innovative, sexy and satirical, Touched brilliantly imagines the ways in which human life and technological innovation threaten existence itself.

Sco Fri at it's Finest

I love Mosley Sci Fi novels. The stories are always interesting. This novel is revealing and even gives understanding on life.

Great story!

Mosley writes such great scifi, I wish he did it more often. One sign of a well written story is you feel it was the right length when you get to the end; not too short and not too long. Another sign is when the author doesn't have to explain the science to move the story along because it's carried by the human elements and the drama of the story. This has both in spades. Great job Mr Mosley, you've done it again!

My favorite non Easy Rawlings book from Mosley

Great book. Big fan of Mosley. Read (or listened to) at least 20 of his books. This love him as a writer and this one really had me engaged. It’s not long but it’s worth it. I hope he continues with the series.

Inventive allegory

Mosley continues to be a masterful storyteller with this sci-fi story meets social commentary about the eternal battle of light versus dark forces cloaked in present day conflicts.

Transformation From Inside Out

This is a thought provoking story of the battle for our minds in the spiritual realm that plays out in this physical realm. The use of time reminds me of Octavia Butler's reference to 2024 in "The Sower of the Seed"; here the use of the future date implies that there has been corrective spiritual processes happening that allow an American racial trope to be handled in a way where Good wins a battle while Evil looks on in anger; however, the war is still in play. I want the next installment of this story. A flicker of light at the end of a long dark tunnel.

Really enjoyed the delivery of all the characters.

Enjoyed the story but left expecting more. I may have been spoiled by Devil in a Blue Dress many years ago and by Killing Johnny Fry and John Woman, my last two investments in Mr. Mosely’s works.

Mosley is a genius

In the tradition of Octavia Butler. Great fantasy science fiction. Mosley never disappoints. Thank you
