Publisher's summary

"Welcome to Conti's. I'm Lia and I'll nguhhhhhhhhhhhhh."

I froze. Directly facing me was Olympic swimmer, Jay Morningstar . . . and I just made an idiot of myself. The rest of the table looked up to see me standing there with my mouth practically gaping.

His coach, who I recognized from TV interviews, and even two other swimmers from the Olympic team were there. They didn't say anything, they didn't even blink.

"Uh ... I mean ..."

I couldn't even put together my words and Jay Morningstar was just staring at me with that Wheaties box smile and those icy blue eyes. What was I supposed to say? Sorry I just made a weird noise, it's just that I have a poster of you on my wall where you are wearing nothing more than your gold medals, a smile, and a pair of man panties?

funny and swoon worthy

This story has everything, swooning, heat, drama. Jay and Lia's chemistry was off the charts. The bantering back and forth between Lia and her brother was hilarious. The narration was great even down to the Texas draw.

Love this athlete crush fantasy come true

I can't express my love for this story enough! Lia is an old school punk loving college student who works in her strict parent's restaurant. All she wants is to get out of her town of Friendship, Texas and go to her dream college in California. One night she serves Olympic gold medal winner Jay Morningstar and his friends/team mates and her boring life is changed. Feelings quickly happen for Lia and Jay. Did I mention that he is her celebrity crush? Like she has a poster up in her room. Talk about a fantasy come true. But Lia has to learn to take down her walls and let Jay in. Especially when an ex and the media come into the picture. I loved Lia. She was such a real character. She made mistakes, had doubts, let her stubbornness get in the way. Any girl can relate. And no wonder she fell hard for Jay. I did too! He would be a reason to get into competitive swimming. I loved their story and I can't praise this story enough. It's a must read/listen. And this narrator really brought it all to life.

Lighthearted read!

Lighthearted read!

Edge of Glory has been sitting on my TBR for a while and decided to give it a go after reading a few dark romances. It was the perfect book to help lighten things up. I loved the premise of the over protected daughter falling for the famous, hunky olympic swimmer!

The narration was great! Kassiopia DeVora was perfection!

A fun sports romance

When I first started this book, I thought it was going to be too young for me, but I was wrong! Jay Morningstar comes to Friendship, Texas to continue his swim training. Lia is a 20 year old woman, who is still under her parents' thumb. This coming of age story is funny and loving, with a little bit of drama thrown in. As an Olympic gold swimmer, Jay is in the limelight, followed by paparazzi, always in the mix of social media. Lia is sheltered, inexperienced and unable to deal with it all. I love the interaction between these two, it's sweet and real. With some fun from both families, we follow the relationship and growth of these two as they reach the Edge of Glory!

Kassiopia DeVora has the ideal voice for new adult narration. She gives Lia a young sound, with all the uncertainty and vulnerability she has. DeVora also does a wonderful male voice for Jay, with confidence and compassion.

It felt so young

Okay, I get that this is supposed to be NA but it reads a lot more like a really young YA instead. It wasn't bad but I felt like I was listening to a story about a pair of 15-year-olds, not a 20-year-old and a 20-something. There's a vast difference in maturity level between those ages or at least there should be. The narrator added to my feeling that this was about teens. Again, she wasn't bad but her voice and reading style comes across as VERY young.

I've listened to other books by this author and they definitely felt more mature than this one. I wouldn't discourage people from listening but adjust your expectations toward a YA vibe.

Sweet

The Edge of Glory is a sweet love story. The characters felt young to me, leaving me feeling like it was more YA than NA. At times it reached for NA, but didn't quite pull it off. It was still a decent story, maybe just not what I was expecting.

Edge of Glory

On the edge.

story was well written. characters were nice and easy to relate to. Its a NA book so of course it has to have insecurities and failure to communicate.

Lovers of instant love will enjoy this book.

Narrator was disappointing. It was as she was reading words from a page and not interested in telling us a story or entertaining us.

Pretty decent first of the series

This is a decent start to a new series. It is a down-to-earth turned in-the-spotlight type of story that every girl dreams of. There were a few times when I would roll my eyes a bit and think "get over it", but then remembered how old the characters were. I think this is a great teenager story. Needless to say...I wouldn't turn down book #2.
