About this listen

Preston Scott. Self-centered asshole. Self-absorbed prick. The king of supposed one-night stands, and my brother’s best friend. I hate him. I loathe him. I despise him.

I love him. He’s the man of my dreams and everything I know I should stay away from, but, oh, he’s so irresistible. The things he does to me, I can’t keep my mind off of him.

But God, I need to keep my distance, yet I’m so drawn to him. And then in an instant when my world is forever changed, Preston is the only one who I can turn to for comfort. He takes care of me, my mind, my soul, my heart, and my body.

But I know this can never last. It’s not in him to settle down, and he surely won’t with his best friend’s sister.

Nope.

This is one of my least favorite of the Hero Club group . So much childish, dishonest drama. It’s a reach out and slap them type of drama that made me tempted to stop listening repeatedly. Lots going on but not much substance or connection.

Good idea but execution

This was not a romance story. It was more drama about dumb heroine and man whore hero. The back and forth was sooo annoying. This is 1 POV but I felt no connection with the main characters. Brother best friend sister was a good idea but bad execution. The heroine was so easy to forgive the hero and take him back. Some people never learn. I know the author was trying to make the heroine a good person. However, I believe in forgiving the person you love. At least make the hero work for it before letting him in. If you have a few hours to waste and there are not good story to listen, by all means, click this one.

Great story

The hero of the story is absolutely the epitome of an egotistical player, but there is more to the story that most don't know. Harleigh and Preston have been in love with each other since the day they met, unfortunately, Preston's best friend is Harleigh's big brother. Circumstance after circumstance keep these two apart but ultimately they finally figure things out. The story is good, I just felt like it was a little drawn out more than necessary. Bella Emy wrote a great book.

A Hero Club Novel

Egotistical Player (A Hero Club Novel) is a brother's best friends romance with deep seated roots. The writing style is organic and mind-blowing. Embodiments of a egotistical player, the male lead character Preston is highly complex with much more than meets the eye. I absolutely adored Harley's character. Her sweet natured personality bursting with love. I found both Harley and Preston's character's compelling and resilient. A passionate romance that spans across time giving it more of a realistic vibe. Heartwrenching moments splashdown throughout the narrative. I absolutely loved this highly addictive and angsty listen. The writing, characters, and plot twists are inescapable and draw you into their world.

Narrators Desireé Ketchum, Gregory Salinas dual performance impeccable. Desireé Ketchum is quickly becoming one of my favourite female narrators. I absolutely love her tone, and could listen to her all day long. She brought Harley's character to reality. Gregory Salinas portrayl of Preston was on point.

Love the naration and the lovestory so much.

Hero is just a very stupid guy.

Seriously a dense human being. So much so I don't think I have read a romance novel where the hero was this dense. The sex scenes were filled with juvenile comments like... she wants the "d". I rolled my eyes and almost gagged a few times. Nauseatingly long read for a man to get his head unstuck from his own rear end in the last 5 minutes of the book. Starts and stops. 15 years of him doing this and each time making her feel like she was nothing. Just starts stuff and no matter what he keeps walking away. Yet she kept letting him get close again. I wish she had stayed with the other guy. She was stupid for sticking around. She should have moved away and met other people. Gotten well away from his bullshit and found a better life. After 15 years of bullshit he says he now knows what he wants and he should give him another chance after way too many. SHE DOES! Just like that? I think we might have our first AFTER Romance novel from this books ending. So we can then see him continuing to be exactly how he was before and she will either finally find out she deserves better or he will also be killed off in yet another accident and she can then go find the other guy. The voice performance itself was fine from what they had to work with. So if you have time to waste on the longest (in years) angsty middle school juvenile "romance" (I say that lightly), please be my guest. Honestly, before going into the book, at least take note that you will find a bit of your romance satisfaction from close side characters. Enjoy or don't. I didn't.

Too long

I skipped several parts because there were too many break ups and reunions. I loved your characters I just felt it was too drawn out.

Story line dragged

Story goes on for years. It does give any reason why she is still in love with him, except for his looks.
He keeps telling himself he can’t be with her. Then his brother makes one comment around 20 years later. He suddenly realizes he can be with her. Once again after no communication he asks her to forgive him & she does, just like that!!
Hello she really is a dump ass character!! So is he!!
