About this listen
The inaugural volume, Elizabeth and Darcy 1800, is a variation of Pride and Prejudice—a creative twist setting the foundation for the series. In this adaptation, Elizabeth Bennet embarks on a journey as a writer, a path illuminated and supported by her eventual spouse, Fitzwilliam Darcy, echoing the life and struggles of Jane Austen herself.
The subsequent volumes, while maintaining the iconic names of the main characters, Elizabeth and Darcy, explore the lives of individuals from the 1900s and 2000s, bound by a singular commonality—their admiration for Jane Austen’s oeuvre. In each story, an Elizabeth and a Darcy are brought together through an extraordinary twist of fate, celebrating the enduring life of Austen’s world across the centuries.
Elizabeth and Darcy 2000 is the third volume and the only new ‘entry’ in the Whispers of Pemberley Series. Its release coincides with the series’ debut.
Although Elizabeth and Darcy 2000 stands alone as a novel, its narrative gains depth and complexity when viewed as a seamless continuation of its predecessors.
While Elizabeth & Darcy 1800 follows Jane Austen’s destiny as a writer through Elizabeth Bennet’s perspective, and Elizabeth & Darcy 1900 celebrates the ladies around the world who, at the dawn of a new era, finally witnessed the changes in the world reflected in their lives, this third volume, Elizabeth & Darcy 2000, pays homage to the Darcys—men of generosity, integrity, and progressive ideals who willingly transform themselves, eager to spend a lifetime with the perpetually intrepid, sarcastic, witty, and wonderful Elizabeths.
The storyline draws inspiration from poignant lines spoken in the concluding moments of the preceding novels.
“What do you envision for women two centuries hence?” Fitzwilliam enquired.
“Do you think they will still read my books?” Elizabeth pondered.
“Undoubtedly,” he reassured her. “Your portrayals of human nature are timeless. Our essence, our emotions, our capacity to love or err will endure. And amidst it all, there will always exist Elizabeths and Darcys—a Miss Pride and a Mr Prejudice to relive our story.”
“You could be right...but in two centuries, I would like the lady to be the rightful mistress of Pemberley, and Darcy merely her devoted admirer.” (Elizabeth & Darcy 1800)
***
When the duke asked Elizabeth a few years later about the subject of another potential novel, she replied candidly, “It would revolve around you, my man, who allowed and encouraged me to be myself, and so much more.” (Elizabeth & Darcy 1900)
Elizabeth and Darcy 2000 is a captivating love story infused with suspense, humour, and passion.
Elizabeth Collister, heiress to a multimedia empire, finds her world upended by her father’s death. Along with the daunting task of managing her father’s vast company, she is thrust into a quest fuelled by his obsession—to find Darcy Egerton, the enigmatic author whose true identity has eluded everyone ever since his debut novel was rejected by their publishing house.
As Elizabeth navigates the complexities of her inheritance and grapples with her growing affection for a refined earl, her life spirals into a whirlwind of intrigue, passion, heartbreak, and familial machinations. Love threads through this tumultuous journey, ultimately leading Elizabeth to a destination where the unexpected converges with the inevitable, ending in the glorious love that Jane Austen once depicted.

Story
‘Elizabeth’s Covenant’ is more than just a new edition of one of Florence Gold’s early novels; it is a revised version that, while grounded in the same idea of a covenant undertaken by Elizabeth, it also reveals an entirely different underlying mystery. Elspeth Awbrey, formerly Bennet, is the sister of Mr Bennet and the guardian of traditions inherited from their Scottish ancestor, Elspeth MacLellan. Married to Oliver Bennet, the man who imposed the infamous entail on Longbourn, Elspeth MacLellan insisted that all their descendants, whether male or female, must fulfil a covenant to ...

Story
By a strange twist of fate, Elizabeth stumbles upon a letter at Netherfield and immediately suspects it to be authored by Mr Darcy, left behind in his haste to depart the country in November. The contents of this intriguing missive speak of a lady whom the haughty Mr Darcy deeply admired, leaving Elizabeth convinced that the gentleman had her in mind when penning those thoughts that strangely resemble a deep affection. This discovery sets off an unusual chain of events. Desperate to keep the letter from prying eyes, Elizabeth impulsively tucks it into her pocket—a decision she soon ...

Author’s Note: This book features NO significant changes! The story has been re-published with a new cover and minor changes, but it brings nothing new to the readers who have already purchased or read it! Elizabeth d’Arcy is one of my boldest twists—in terms of plot, that is 😊. Napoleon’s spies, outlaws, dangers, and love above all—this story has it all. When Darcy is assaulted in his own home, nearly everyone assumes it is the handiwork of a common thief searching for valuable items—everyone except his aunt Lady Antoinette Darcy. With the sole missing item being the family ...

Story
This is the second edition of the 30000-word novella A Darcy Christmas, featuring a new cover and reworked text. What better way to end 2024 than with a Pride and Prejudice novella brimming with love, joy, accomplishments, engagements, and…unexpected marriages? The year leading up to this festive season has not been without its difficulties for the Bennet family. Yet, it appears to be concluding on a high note: Jane’s heartache soothed by marital bliss, Lydia’s scandalous elopement resolved, and Elizabeth unexpectedly heeding her parents’ advice to marry Mr Darcy without being ...

One warning, two cautions, and a note: WARNING: In deference to a truth universally acknowledged that men do not behave the same when no women are present as they do in mixed company, this vagary does have occasional uses of profanity. The men in my life would consider it amusing but naïve to afford the same semantics of conversation for wholly different circumstances such as these, or they would should one of them choose to read it. This vagary proposes an alternate telling of the original Pride and Prejudice and considers what may have happened should the characters have been afforded a ...
