Publisher's summary

Tyler Barron is about to lead his fleet into a trap. He is sure the enemy is laying in wait, but he has no choice. After four years of unexpected calm along the front line, the Senate and the Hegemonic Council are demanding action, and the Pact’s commanding admiral has no choice but to set out on a mission to liberate the enemy-held regions of the Hegemony.

While Tyler prepares for an offensive he believes can only end in disaster, Andi Lafarge is preparing to continue her quest for the mysterious weapon the doomed empire used to defeat the Highborn centuries before. That search has largely been one of combing through old data and artifacts...until now. Andi’s path leads into the region of the Hegemony now know as Occupied Space, right past the Highborn defenses, to the shadowy and mysterious coreward regions of the old and fallen empire, and the ancient imperial capital itself.

The fleet will fight, struggling for a victory that may be out of reach, but even as they risk all, a new threat is growing, one far in the rear, along the regions of Confederation space that have been stripped of their defenses to support the war effort. The danger is real, and it is deadly. Tyler Barron and his spacers could see their home space invaded and destroyed, even as they fight for to achieve victory hundreds of lightyears away.

Waiting for the next few books

Another addition to series, I sort have had to laugh at the French accent for the Union population I wonder if that was on purpose.

The last sentence on the book worth the entire read.

Masterful Storytelling!

Breathtaking battles and a surprise I didn’t see coming are just two of the reasons why I love this book! Not since Isaac Asimov have I enjoyed a sci-fi author’s books as much as I do Jay Allan’s. IMO, his writing is practically flawless. I also think that Jeffrey Kafer does an outstanding job of bringing the story to life.

I can hardly wait now for “Attack Plan Alpha” to come out on Audible! The freedom-loving people of the galaxy have to find a way to defeat a society that thinks of itself as gods!

Enough Already

Love the series. Love the author. This narrator is the GOAT! However, this series has gone on too long. I feel like a drug addict who can’t help keep buying from a dealer. Good guys beat bad guys at great cost. Repeat against slightly worse bad guy. Please make friends with the primary front fo defeat the Highborn The end. Your talents will come up with a new series.

Great, keep going!

It’s classic military sci-fi, what’s not to like? Keep going and can’t wait for the next one.

Great story line but.........!!

OK where to begin! I am at home during the Chinese Covid-19 pandemic. I was excited that this book came out because I really like the series! But at the same time a bit concerned that the author Mr. Allan would so over describe and write his characters to so second guess all of their decisions that it would just make the book a pill to get through as he has done on a couple of other book. I have been able to mostly accept it because the previous books spent a lot of time going through the battles that were being waged. So for me it was worth it. BUT on this book it seems all he did was over describe and second guess. One time out of frustration when I arrive at a light that just turned red I turned the volume down so i would not have to keep hearing it and when the light turned green several minutes later he was still over describing a simple action that happens throughout the book. What a shame because the epic battles were not discussed or described in favor of a "days of our lives" theme. SO VERY FRUSTRATED with this particular book, 10 hours could literally be cut into 5 hours of actual story. Such a shame because it is an incredible story line with amazing opportunities for epic deeds of heroism and strategy. Please return to the story line it is incredible and you have a great deal to build on just leave the second guessing and over descriptions out. Describe the battle and technology and ships instead please

Please, please, stop saying the same monologue

Please, please, please stop saying the same dialog in 30 different ways. what should be a 5 hour book, turns into 10 hours because of the constant repeating of the same internal monologue in a slightly different way. Otherwise, would give 5 stars. It has been the case for the last few books. I assume because of the publisher pressure. I usually stop half way through the most recent books to allow myself to forget some bits, and then it is not so tedious when I pick up where i left off. Love the story/writing... hate the repetition.

Repeats almost everything from all the other books

This is not really a new story. It’s the same story repeated and repeated and repeated. Every detail about Barons relationship with everyone is repeated in every other chapter. I understand the point is to make money, but this show pure greed. Unless you want to hear the same things over....and over.....and over, just skip this book
