About this listen

New York Times best-selling author and famed former Manhattan prosecutor Linda Fairstein delivers a chilling Alexandra Cooper thriller, in which Alex matches wits with the master of detective fiction himself: Edgar Allan Poe.

Workers demolishing a 19th-century brownstone where Poe once lived discover a human skeleton standing - entombed - behind a brick wall. When assistant district attorney and sex crimes prosecutor Alexandra Cooper hears about the case, it strikes her as a classic scene from Poe's fiction, except that forensic evidence shows this young woman died within the last 25 years.

Meanwhile, Alex is furious at the news that an old nemesis may be preying on women once again. The Silk Stocking Rapist first struck four years ago, leaving a string of victims in his wake, then abruptly disappeared before Alex and the NYPD could identify him. Now, with improved forensic technology and a national DNA databank to draw from, a fresh attack may give Alex a new lease on many old crimes, just in time to beat the statute of limitations.

Masterful and exhilarating, this heady thriller combines dramatic New York City lore and the macabre world of Edgar Allan Poe with the authentic legal and forensic detail that only Linda Fairstein can offer. Entombed is electrifying crime writing at its very best.

Disappointed

Don't like reader. Sounds as is slobbering. One threat to Alex would have been sufficient. Maybe next will be better.

Another goodie.

I started reading these books by Linda Fairstein and Narrated by Barbara Rosenblat last week. I love them! The stories are great! And, I really enjoy the how Ms. Rosenblat is so able to bring the characters to life. I know I am going to be sad when I have heard them all. I feel like the main characters have become friends of mine.

Fairstein and Rosenblat are a great team!

Another milestone in the journey of Coop, Mike, and Mercer. A wonderful series with a lead female character who isn't too brilliant and strong and sexy to be believable.

Pay back will get you bricked!

Excellent narration. The bricked woman really pissed off the wrong person to use. Tough love.

HORRIFIC reader ... Buyer BEWARE

If you want to listen to Barbara Rosenblat suck cough drops and swallow her saliva and gasp for breath during every pause; by all means feel free to waste a credit on this book.

It was so annoying that I stopped listening after 10 minutes.

While I love Linda Fairstein, and ordered her entire "Alex Cooper" series, the reader makes it impossible to listen to them.

Sorry to have wasted my $$$ and credits.

Lots of description, little plot movement.

It may be that my issues with this book are simply a matter of preference. I enjoy a mystery with twists that surprise and challenge. Fairstein provides lots of description, some interesting bits of New York history, and voluminous real life , banal, conversation. After 4 hours, with little plot advancement, I was feeling entombed and gave up.
