About this listen
What does it take to create the career you want?
It's no secret that the world of work has changed, and we're shifting toward an ever more entrepreneurial, self-reliant, work-from-wherever-you-are economy. That can be a liberating force, and many professionals dream of becoming independent, whether by starting their own businesses, becoming consultants or freelancers, or developing a sideline.
But there's a major obstacle professionals face when they contemplate taking the leap: how to actually make money doing what they love. You may have incredible talent and novel ideas, but figuring out how to get started, building your reputation in a new realm, developing multiple revenue streams, and bringing in a steady flow of new clients can be a daunting prospect.
Dorie Clark, a successful entrepreneur and author, has done it all. And in Entrepreneurial You she provides a blueprint for professional independence, with insights and advice on building your brand, monetizing your expertise, and extending your reach and impact online. In short, engaging chapters she outlines the necessary elements and concrete tactics for entrepreneurial success. She shares the stories of entrepreneurs of all kinds - from consultants and coaches to podcasters, bloggers, and online marketers - who have generated six- and seven-figure incomes.
This book will be your hands-on guide to building a portfolio of revenue streams, both traditional and online, so that you can liberate yourself financially and shape your own career destiny.

But becoming a "thought leader" is a mysterious and opaque process. Where do the ideas come from, and how do they get noticed?

It's no secret that we're pushed to the limit. Today's professionals feel rushed, overwhelmed, and perennially behind. But with that change comes unprecedented access to information in a few quick keystrokes. Enter the age of the empowered buyer, one who no longer has to rely on a sales rep to research their challenges or learn more about how a company’s offering might fit their needs. Now, with more than 60 percent of purchasing decisions made in the absence of a sales rep, the role of the rep itself has been called into question.

If you’re looking for something as practical as it is inspirational start here
Dorie Clark hits a home run with this book. I was 3 chapters into this audio book when I hopped on Amazon to purchase the physical hard copy. I’ve felt lost on where to start on my entrepreneurial journey. It seemed like I’d always be overwhelmed by the “how” and “where” to begin aspects of launching, diversifying, and monitoring my business. Thanks to Dorie’s book I know have a clear path and the inspiration to chase after it. Before I was afraid to even take the first step. Now I’m like chomping at the bit to get started. Thanks Dorie for this incredible resource.

The third time was just as good as the first!
I’ve now read through this book 3 separate times and each time I’ve extracted a totally new takeaway from her.
The thoroughness the author is willing to go to with each step/avenue is incredible, and I’d recommend any young (or new) entrepreneur pick it up and use it as a roadmap in creating your strategy/brand!
Take your time, tackle the “Try This” offered at the end of each section, and it is impossible to not improve yourself and your strategy.
