About this listen

She dreams of breaking free.

Desperate to start over, Darcie Hartwell is drawn to Ireland, unwittingly compelled by the mystical power of fate and the ghost of an ancestor. She's not looking for adventure, love, or friendship. She only yearns for a peaceful life, free from the memories that plague her nightmares. He dreams of her.

Connor O'Brian is a hard-working Irishman who wants nothing to do with women or romance - burnt once, twice shy. Except for the one he sees in his dreams. For years, he has dreamt of only her. Nameless, voiceless, he doesn't know if she's real. But he knows that if he ever finds her, he will stop at nothing to keep her.

But fate has its own plans. Falling into the waiting arms of the handsome Irishman was never Darcie's intention, but in that one moment, everything changed. Now, Darcie must decide if she is willing to confront the past that haunts her and face who she is to fight for the love she never knew awaited her.

The story was boring. The narration was awful. She had a soft monotone voice that seemed the same for all the characters. It was difficult to tell which character was speaking. I do not reccomend this book.

Too boring

I don't usually write bad reviews, but in this case, I have to write that I am in agreement with most all of the reviews on this book. I should have read them before I got the book. I couldn't even get past perhaps the first few pages as the narration was some of the most awful I've ever heard. What bothered me was that the author is the one who narrated her own book and therefore, I didn't want to leave a bad review. Jude McLean writes some pretty good, easy short romance novels, but this one -- who could tell? I couldn't get enough of the story because I couldn't past the monotonous voice.

Don't waste your money on this one.

Absolutely a total waste of money

I could listen to the narrator’s voice all day. Great story, the characters are very relatable and the description of the settings can’t be beat.

Sexy and Unwinding

This is a monotone reading of a dull book. There are no attempts to alter the voices of different characters or ever a hint of emotion. It’s the perfect read to lull you to sleep. Don’t listen if you’re driving.

The story seemed a bit interesting at first, but immediately the narrator gives a monotone, inflectionless, and stiff reading which is already tough to get past... Then the story quickly makes less and less sense. The author introduces characters that have minimal foundation, but randomly show up again to be pretty important, and the storyline has random plot points that don't seem to come from or go anywhere. To be fair, I couldn't bring myself to listen ALL the way to the end, so maybe some loose ends were tied up, but I did finish all but the last 2 chapters so I feel it unlikely to have been a satisfactory ending for me.

"Not for me," sums it up
