Publisher's summary

New York Times best seller.

Jude Deveraux's eagerly awaited third novel in her blockbuster Nantucket Brides trilogy continues the spellbinding saga of the Montgomery-Taggerts, set on an island steeped in beauty and unforgettable romance.

Life is anything but perfect for Hallie Hartley, a young physical therapist who has given up nearly everything - even her love life - for her beautiful blonde stepsister, Shelly. Though Shelly's acting career has never taken off, she has certainly perfected the crocodile tears to get what she wants - which all too often means Hallie's boyfriends. When Hallie arrives home early from work one fateful day, she makes two startling discoveries that will turn her life upside down: Not only has a mysterious relative left Hallie a house on Nantucket, but Shelly has been trying to steal it. Desperate to put her troubles behind her, Hallie impulsively flies to Nantucket.

New trouble, however, has already settled into Hallie's guest room in the form of her newest client. Hallie is told that wealthy, young James Taggert has injured his leg in a skiing accident. Assuming that the devastatingly handsome man has led a charmed life, Hallie is surprised by Jamie at every turn throughout his recovery. His attentions draw her out of her shell - but he has a dark secret and is tormented by nightmares that only her presence can keep at bay. She suspects there's more to his injury than he's letting on.

On this gorgeous island rich in history, magic is everywhere, even in Hallie's own backyard. As Jamie's relatives arrive for a wedding gala, something wonderfully unusual is in the air. There's an aura of romance - enhanced by a pair of matchmaking ghosts and a colorful island legend. In their own little corner of the world, Jamie and Hallie unravel the timeless secrets of their own hearts - and a very special story of true love destined to last forever after.

Never a let down!

Jude Devaraux's books have captured me since I first read A Knight In Shining Armor in 1990 and has never let me down! I loved the Nantucket Bride Trilogy.

It's our 20th Anniversary review, this one takes the cake!

I started reading Jude Deveraux books the summer I turned 16. My best friend and I were on vacation in Maine that summer, and we spent quite a few hours being captivated by the Black Lyon and the Angel series. I am now 36, a war veteran (female) and suffer from small scale PTSD. It is embarrassing to me to be less than I was, but this book was touching. I rushed out to buy the hardback and read it in one night. Then I drove it down to my best friend's house, loaned it to her, and bought the audiobook to commute to my job at the base hospital with everyday.

I have all the Jude Devereaux books that are published in print, even the collaborative ones. I would like to hear them all on audiobook, and the Narration was good as well, I am going to pull out the invitation right now and read it on this cold afternoon day in Alaska.

Thank you for years of wonderful entertainment, and sharing your gift of writing with the world. It takes me somewhere, makes me feel, and leaves me wanting more adventures.

Modern Cinderella

If you are looking for a romance novel with a twist this is the book for you. It's not steamy as much as it is endearing and romantic. The narrator, Kirsten Potter, did a wonderful job reading this novel. She was able to clearly voice each character, both male and female, so effortlessly that I would forget it was one person reading. Her voice was soothing and had the right inflictions where needed.

Trigger warning. For those who have suffered family loss, loss of loved ones, or had family conflict are themes found within the novel. It's nothing severe but after the past year I prefer to mention in case this is something you would prefer to avoid.

Jude Deveraux very much created a Cinderella story with a modern twist. You have the perfect family until tragedy strikes. Then the wicked stepmother and the father who never admits there is an issue. Then you have the beautiful step sister with the main character being a plain Jane. When an unknown individual leaves you a house that your sister is trying to steal...it's time for a change. Oh by the way... your sister let a guy move into your house and now he's your problem. So much family drama but you know things like this have happened in real life. So as a physical therapist with a guy that injured his leg living in her house. What's the worst that could happen? Who is this guy that left her this house? Strange things are happening within the house and with only two of them there how is that possible? Is there an happily ever after?

You should definitely consider reading this novel. It's a clean read with an antique charm,

As always, Ms. Deveraux delivers

What other book might you compare Ever After to and why?

This is a romance without the explicit intimacy you find in many books today and follows the footsteps of all the other excellent Deveraux books.

Have you listened to any of Kirsten Potter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't recall reading any other performances of Kirsten Potter however, I would be willing to if other books sound interesting. She delivers an excellent performance even with the male characters which I sometimes find sub-par with female narrators.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Any additional comments?

It is sometimes difficult to listen to non-suspense romances simply because the move slow and while not bad less engaging than suspense or mystery romances. This book, along with every other Jude Deveraux book seems to be an exception because I am truly engaged through the whole story and do not want to miss a word narrated the entire book.

wanna marry a Taggard or Montgomery!!!!

I am going to be single for the rest of my life because no one will ever live up to the Taggarts or Montgomerys ... whom I am madly in love with.
Seriously, thank you for including a military member with PTSD. It's very serious and a lot of us are ashamed of how we act or behave due to the things we've had to see or endure. A lot of people can't understand it nor do they know how to deal with it. That's OK with us .... a little love and understanding, just as your character showed,is all that we need.
Thank you
