Publisher's summary

Sometimes you just need to escape.

For crooked politicians, military brass from third-world nations, and white-collar criminals looking to avoid either prison or a deadlier form of payback, there’s Exit Strategy. With just one call, Exit Strategy helps these wealthy-but-wanted types disappear completely. They can fake your death, give you a new name and face, and launder whatever ill-gotten funds you need to establish a new life on the other side of the world.

When Jordan Parrish, the brilliant founder of a medical technology start-up, made the call, he thought he had no other way out. With his marriage in shambles and his company on the brink of financial ruin, it seemed the only way to make things right. But after his exit, he began to wonder about the circumstances that led him to make that momentous decision: Was someone, in fact, working against him? To find out, Jordan will have to break the cardinal rule of Exit Strategy: you can never, ever go back.

Charlton Pettus’s Exit Strategy is a cutting-edge, globe-trotting thriller about the type of shadowy organization that most of us have long suspected exists behind the scenes.

Charlton Pettus is a songwriter and producer living in Los Angeles. Since 2000 he has been a member of Tears for Fears, producing their last record and touring with the band as lead guitarist. Exit Strategy is his first novel.

Creative plot, wild ride, and great narration!

Exit Strategy is a fast paced international suspense mystery with an unusual and interesting plot line. As usual I suggest reading the publisher's summary and a few reviews before purchasing a novel. This novel comes very close to earning 5 stars. I down rate it slightly because there is no way that protagonist Jordan Perrish could have taken the ongoing physical punishments and survived; the author overdid the violent activity.

Outstanding storytelling! Utterly engaging!

Pettus’ writing tunes and expands the mind of the reader. We are not spoon - fed, but enticed into wanting to know more and more as each layer colorfully, poetically and thrillingly unfolds. Pettus is a keen, expansive observer of our world - interior and exterior - he illuminates the idea of the biomechanics of love, and shows how the bonds of family can conquer greed and make an ordinary man into a hero!

This book is FANTASTIC!!!!

Exit Strategy is a really good, make that an excellent suspense thriller. Jordan looses a child, he and his wife Stephanie are going for therapy. The loss is too great. His business is failing. He just wants to end it. Enter "Exit Strategy ". The one rule, once they give you a new life you can never contact anyone from your past. Except they're not exactly what they claim to be. And Jordan decides he misses his wife and children. It kind of like a twisted "It's A Wonderful Life". He sees how things would be without him. He decides to go home. He's blocked. When he tries to leave people from Exit Strategy stop him and implant a tracking device in his arm. He's a scientist and used to working out puzzling genetic coding. Now he comes up with a back door way to get out of this. His plans don't quite work out the way he planned but his desperate escape it nail biting suspense.
There are some parts that are a little far fetched but while listening it just flows so well. Hey, it's fiction, it sounds good so just enjoy!
Will Damron's narration is perfect! He does this type of book so well (like the Naturalist series).
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Gratuitous animal cruelty

If you have cats or like cats, maybe give this one a miss. In it, a cat dies in the most horrific way imaginable, which is described in epic, gruesome detail. What makes it worse it that its death serves NO PURPOSE WHATSOEVER, not even the all-too-frequent "the bad guys here are really bad guys" signalling of the lazy writer, as at that point, we are already quite aware of how bad the bad guys are. (There's also some cruelty done to a rat but at least it serves a plot purpose and things end well for the rat.)

Great premise, way too violent

The interesting premise intrigued me, especially the genetics involved. But ... extremely graphic sexual scenes and extremely graphic sexual and physical violence detracted from the story for me--and did not ADVANCE the story line at all. I could not finish the last 15 chapters.
