Publisher's summary

Edsel Bronfman works as a junior executive shipping clerk for an importer of Korean flatware. He lives in a seedy neighborhood and spends his free time with his spirited mother. Things happen to other people, and Bronfman knows it. Until, that is, he gets a call from operator 61217 telling him that he's won a free weekend at a beachfront condo in Destin, Florida. But there's a catch: The offer is intended for a couple, and Bronfman has only 79 days to find someone to take with him. The phone call jolts Bronfman into motion, initiating a series of truly extraordinary adventures as he sets out to find a companion for his weekend getaway. Open at last to the possibilities of life, Bronfman now believes that anything can happen. And it does.

A large-hearted and optimistic novel, Extraordinary Adventures is the latest from the New York Times best-selling Daniel Wallace.

another great story by Daniel Wallace.

I found myself rooting for Bronfman til the very end! I have enjoyed every Daniel Wallace book I have read, and this one might be my new favorite. Such great storytelling and captivating characters. I cannot recommend this book enough.

Wonderful

All characters unique and delightful. And the narrator really captures Edsel's naive and kind boyishness.

He chose the wrong woman...

...in my opinion. it was a long book considering the plot. I loved the author's other book which became the movie, "Big Fish".

Always an amazing story-teller

Daniel Wallace didn’t disappoint in his ability to hook me on yet another story! This one encapsulates a level of weirdness, awkward insecurities, and the mundaneness of life that is both relatable on every level and yet exaggerated enough to make one feel sane. The narrator made sure to give unique voices to each character and read in such a way that you felt you were there watching the story unfold. Love this book of misfits for misfits and anyone else who is never quite sure of themselves, or just plain human.

Boring

A boring book about a man who doesn't have much of a life slooooowly flowering into a fuller self. I found the character depressing in his utter blandness although I did enjoy the sweet relationship he has with his mother. But overall I found the book dragged. This narrator is one of my favorites but I think he could have picked up the pace more. He may have been directed to take it slowly just like how the main character lives his life but it didn't work for me.
