About this listen

Told through the eyes of current and former Navy SEALs, Eyes on Target is an inside account of some of the most harrowing missions in American history - including the mission to kill Osama bin Laden and the mission that wasn't, the deadly attack on the US diplomatic outpost in Benghazi where a retired SEAL sniper with a small team held off one hundred terrorists while his repeated radio calls for help went unheeded.

The book contains incredible accounts of major SEAL operations - from the violent birth of SEAL Team Six and the aborted Operation Eagle Claw meant to save the hostages in Iran, to key missions in Iraq and Afghanistan where the SEALs suffered their worst losses in their fifty year history - and every chapter illustrates why this elite military special operations unit remains the most feared anti-terrorist force in the world.

We hear reports on the record from retired SEAL officers including Lt. Cmdr. Richard Marcinko, the founder of SEAL Team Six, and a former Commander at SEAL team Six, Ryan Zinke, and we come away understanding the deep commitment of these military men who put themselves in danger to protect our country and save American lives. In the face of insurmountable odds and the imminent threat of death, they give all to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

No matter the situation, on duty or at ease, SEALs never, ever give up. One powerful chapter in the book tells the story of how one Medal of Honor winner saved another, the only time this has been done in US military history.

Eyes on Target includes these special features:

  • A detailed timeline of events during the Benghazi attack
  • Sample rescue scenarios from a military expert who believes that help could have reached the Benghazi compound in time
  • The US House Republican Conference Interim Progress Report on the events surrounding the September 11, 2012 Terrorist Attacks in Benghazi

Through their many interviews and unique access, Scott McEwen and Richard Miniter pull back the veil that has so often concealed the heroism of these patriots. They live by a stringent and demanding code of their own creation, keeping them ready to ignore politics, bureaucracy and-if necessary-direct orders. They share a unique combination of character, intelligence, courage, love of country and what can only be called true grit.

They are the Navy SEALs, and they keep their Eyes on Target.

Riveting, intense, and informative!

Great story, and a close look at the Bengahzi cover up! Any doubts about the Obama Administration and Hillary Clinton's failure to support our citizens. to save votes are dispensed! Great look at our nation's special forces!

Good book, but...Benghazi

Now that we have so much detailed information of what transpired in Benghazi, it seems like that section of this book is lacking in details at best, or factually inaccurate at worst, which has me questioning the validity of other stories herein. No reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater, I suppose.

Offers many great short stories into theSEAL Teams

this book offers many great short stories into the seal teams that are well-documented and other books.

the only thing about the entire book I didn't find interesting was the ending of it why they started to offer scenarios that could have played out.

however it's undoubtable a good. you get a handle on who the Navy Seals are and what they do

Great Account of The Seals

The authors give great insight to the missions that the Seals have been involved with during their history. If you are interested in what Seals do then this is a must listen.

Excellent Book about SEALs

What did you love best about Eyes on Target?

I've read a lot of SEAL books and this is one of my favorites. This tells several stories about SEALs you may not have ever heard of. Scott McEwen delivers some good stories of people like DRAGO or events in Benghazi that you may not have heard about otherwise.

Friggin Hooah!

What did you love best about Eyes on Target?

The no nonsense description and depiction of how the SEALs came to be, the transformation to Professionals.

What other book might you compare Eyes on Target to and why?

I have not read another account like this..thats good. Variety is always refreshing.

Which character – as performed by Holter Graham – was your favorite?

I don't recall one in particular.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Anger. I'm a former member of the Spec Ops community and the accounting of the Benghazi Libya murder of 4 americans infuriates me still today. Especially when the 5 AVAILABLE, READY and LEGITIMATE options for support and rescue were presented. Anyone in a leadership position in the Military, Pentagon or WHITE HOUSE absolutely knows that without question Americans will ALWAYS go to the aid of other Americans when danger is present. No questions, hesitation or regrets, we NEVER leave our Brothers and Sisters to die alone. To do so is MURDER and that is what took place. There are ALWAYS contingency plans for hostile areas, particularly on the anniversaries of the worst attack on Americans since Pearl Harbor and in a country that HATES us. Then to outright LIE to the faces of the families of the fallen about what happened and why it happened and when questioned about those lies to claim that the family members are the ones lying??? And to say that the heroes who survived are lying as well???? WHAT???? This is why Americans are fed up with Politicians and their Lackeys who serve them.

Any additional comments?

Thank you to the authors, narrator and the men and women who contributed their accounting of the history, facts and stories in this book. Well done and keep up the fight. When it comes down to the final battle, we know who will be there in the end, until the final breath is drawn.
