Story
For over a decade, philosopher and energy expert Alex Epstein has predicted that any negative impacts of fossil fuel use on our climate will be outweighed by the unique benefits of fossil fuels to human flourishing--including their unrivaled ability to provide low-cost, reliable energy to billions of people around the world, especially the world’s poorest people. And contrary to what we hear from media “experts” about today’s “renewable revolution” and “climate emergency,” reality has proven Epstein right.

Story
In Disunited Nations, geopolitical strategist Peter Zeihan presents a series of counterintuitive arguments about the future of a world where trade agreements are coming apart and international institutions are losing their power. Germany will decline as the most powerful country in Europe, with France taking its place. Every country should prepare for the collapse of China, not North Korea. We are already seeing, as Zeihan predicts, a shift in outlook on the Middle East: it is no longer Iran that is the region’s most dangerous threat, but Saudi Arabia.

When Bernie Sanders began his race for the presidency, it was considered by the political establishment and the media to be a "fringe" campaign, something not to be taken seriously. After all, he was just an independent senator from a small state with little name recognition. His campaign had no money, no political organization, and it was taking on the entire Democratic Party establishment. By the time Sanders' campaign came to a close, however, it was clear that the pundits had gotten it wrong.

Any ambitious proposal, however, inevitably runs into the buzz saw of how to find the money to pay for it, rooted in myths about deficits that are hobbling us as a country.

Story
The US tax code is a total write-off. Overstuffed with loopholes and special interest provisions, it works for no one - except tax lawyers, accountants, and corporations, that is - certainly not me and you. Not for the first time, we have to tear it up and start over. That happened in 1922, and again in 1954, and again in 1986. There's a pattern here; we reach this point every 32 years. Which means the next complete re-write of the tax code is due in 2018. Can we write a new tax code that is fair and simple? In fact, we can.

Story
In the words of Harvard economist Niall Ferguson, the United States is “an empire on the edge of chaos.” Why? Glenn Beck thinks the answer is pretty simple: Because we’ve turned our backs on the Constitution. Yes, our country is financially broke, but that’s just a side effect of our broken spirit, our broken faith in government, the broken promises by our leaders, and a broken political system that has centralized power at the expense of individual rights.

Sound, well-researched plan
After reading the last FairTax book, I still had some questions. This book answered them and strengthened my belief in this version of a consumption tax. It sites in-depth research and includes supporting statements from well-respected economic minds. It also made me realize that criticism generally comes from three sources: those invested in the current system, those who do not understand the FairTax, and those who don't believe the research behind it. The first group is essentially several thousand individuals holding hundreds of millions in thrall. The second group is the largest and will glean the most from the book. The last group is using either someone else's word or their own intuition to counter over $20 million in research. The fact is that the research is out there and open to scrutiny while the counter sources generally are either not open, or use entirely different math (usually based on some questionable assumptions).
Final word: this could be the most important change to our government in our or the next generation.
It was also read well by one of the authors.

How to promote the Libertarian agenda
After the first chapter, you realize this is an attempt to promote a libertarian agenda in the guise of tax reform. I found this has much less to do with tax reform than it does political reform.
Despite what the cover states, this does not provide a convincing argument in support of FairTax, much less providing responses to critics of the plan. There was little detailed information, and each chapter left me with more doubt than confidence. Finally, many of the claims seem far-fetched even for someone who has only taken Econ 101, and as mentioned little was done to provide evidence to back up the claims that were made.
The narrator & coauthor is great to listen to, but I just can't get over the bias and unconvincing repetitiveness.
