Publisher's summary

The revered author’s definitive collection of short fiction, which explores enduring spiritual and science fiction themes such as space, time, reality, fantasy, God, and the fate of humankind.

From C.S. Lewis - the great British writer, scholar, lay theologian, broadcaster, Christian apologist, and author of Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters, The Great Divorce, The Chronicles of Narnia, and many other beloved classics - comes a collection of his dazzling short fiction.

This collection of futuristic fiction includes a breathtaking science fiction story written early in his career in which Cambridge intellectuals witness the breach of space-time through a chronoscope - a telescope that looks not just into another world, but into another time.

As powerful, inventive, and profound as his theological and philosophical works, The Dark Tower reveals another side of Lewis’s creative mind and his longtime fascination with reality and spirituality. It is ideal listening for fans of J. R. R. Tolkien, Lewis’s longtime friend and colleague.

Unexpected and sadly Unfullfilling

As a pretty big fan of Lewis and his allegorical style I was exited to find some "lost works". Sadly though the really interesting one was only a partial story and we were left wanting more and closure of sorts. The short stories were really a left curve with Greek mythology. The best story in the bunch was the one about the blind man that received sight. The perspective on that was so refreshing.

These are UNFINISHED tales

The stories are fantastic, as you might expect but if you crave an ending, perhaps you should move on. Having said that, I highly recommend every thing else Lewis ever wrote.

Great stories hindered by poor narration

These same stories are available in C.S. Lewis: Essay Collection (starting at chapter 130), which is narrated by Geoffrey Howard.

Very good, even if only a fragment

I was very happy to discover this an unknown work from my favorite author. I enjoyed it very much, and I think it was very good, even if only a fragment.

Tantalizing insights into Lewis' mind

Still early in my reading of Lewis' many works, I cannot compare this collection of unfinished works with his science fiction stories.

The editor did a fine job of giving context to the stories and insights into Lewis' thinking.

The narrator was excellent -- clear and vibrant.

the different viewpoints

I particularly liked the commentary at the end of the stories. they were very helpful in the explaination of the abrupt ending of a couple of the short stories.

Good beginnings

It’s understandable, but frustrating, to only get snippets of stories. It made this one difficult to enjoy.

Great study

The brilliance of the writer is at work in all of these works. It makes you want the completed stories but the stories that are not finished are still gripping.

A wonderful continuation

A wonderful continuation of C.S. Lewis’s imaginative works. What a blessing to hear his consistent voice in such interesting stories.

Worth your time

For a collection of shorts it was very enjoyable. C.S. Lewis is always time well spent.
