About this listen

Stebbins Little School is full of bodies. It's unthinkable to Desdemona Fox. Children are sobbing as panicked teachers and neighbors beat down their family members outside of the school - or the things that used to be their family members. Parents don't eat their children do they?

Officers Fox and Hammond, along with journalist Billy Trout, are calling it the beginning of the end. This is the zombie apocalypse. An insane escaped serial killer is infecting Stebbins County with a deadly virus, and now the whole world is watching while Fox, Trout, and the remaining inhabitants of Stebbins fight for their life against - what? The undead?

The President and the National Guard are ready to nuke Stebbins, PA off the map and cut their losses. But the infection is spreading and fast. Worse, the scientist who created the virus is missing. It's a numbers game as the body count rises; Fox has to contain the infected and evacuate the living before it's too late, and the clock is ticking.

Fall of Night, Maberry's nail-biting sequel to Dead of Night, picks up where the first novel left off - on a wild goose chase for a madman and the missing scientist who gave him new "un"-life. Chilling, gory, and hair-raisingly scary, Maberry fans won't be able to read this fast-paced thriller with the lights off.

Fills in a lot of gaps

Would you listen to Fall of Night again? Why?

Good narration and a lot of depth and action to the story.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the fact that it introduced new characters that helped close the gaps in many other books by the author. Captain Ledger is mentioned as are Tom Imura and Charley Pink Eye. It confirms that all of the stories take place as part of the same infection and in the same "world".

Magnificent story

I can spout all kind of hyperboles but I'm only going to say that this is a absolutely fantastic story of horror, insanity and survival. Read or listen to this with the lights on! This is a story of, the End.

Narration ruined this for me

If you could sum up Fall of Night in three words, what would they be?

Could be better

What was one of the most memorable moments of Fall of Night?

The ending is worth the horrible narration

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Narrator was too over the top. His female voice was off putting and made the characters completely unlikable!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Happy Ending?

Any additional comments?

I've read a few of Maberry's books and have loved them all. This was the first book of his I listened to. The narrator completely ruined the experience for me. I hated the characters even though I'd read the first book and found them like-able. I won't listen to the next book in this series if it's by the same narrator.

great series. narrator is fine

I did have a hard time at first with the narrator, but comparing almost any narrator to RC Bray or Ray Porter is a challenge for anyone.

I could listen to those two guys read anything.

the narration is a bit different from what I am accustomed to, but the story is good and when I got accustomed to a new voice it was great.

I got hooked and would have listened to the entire series regardless.
