Publisher's summary

From New York Times best-selling author Jonathan Maberry comes a standalone supernatural thriller, Ink, about a memory thief who feeds on the most precious of dreams.

Tattoo artist Patty Cakes has her dead daughter’s face tattooed on the back of her hand. Day by day, it begins to fade, taking with it all of Patty’s memories of her daughter. All she’s left with is the certain knowledge she has forgotten her lost child. The awareness of that loss is tearing her apart.

Monk Addison is a private investigator whose skin is covered with the tattooed faces of murder victims. He is a predator who hunts for killers, and the ghosts of all of those dead people haunt his life. Some of those faces have begun to fade, too, destroying the very souls of the dead.

All through the town of Pine Deep, people are having their most precious memories stolen. The monster seems to target the lonely, the disenfranchised, the people who need memories to anchor them to this world.

Something is out there. Something cruel and evil is feeding on the memories, erasing them from the hearts and minds of people like Patty and Monk and others.

Ink is the story of a few lonely, damaged people hunting for a memory thief. When all you have are memories, there is no greater horror than forgetting.

holy crap this guy

so I just started listening to this but I'm immediately giving it four stars overall with five star performance if you've listened to other books by Jonathan Mayberry you're very familiar with Ray Porter. when it comes to narrating I believe he's one of the best.

now I don't mean to Fanboy out on Jonathan mayberry's books or anything but less than 2 minutes into this what do they say...... pine deep. if you can't give me Joe ledger give me pine deep. there are few authors who can tie together so many different universes. I'll update this when I'm done but for now I'm just going to sit back and enjoy.

One of Jonathan Maberry's best

Ink might be Jonathan Maberry's Master Piece.

The believable characters, the introduction of a new kind of monster capable of incredible evil and social disruption, and images inked with eloquent descriptions set this story apart.

(You won't see it coming.)

Ray Porter's narration is excellent. Bravo.

Unexpectedly great story

Character development well imagined. Very creative story about often overdone mythical characters. Did not grab me at first but the story slowly begins to unfold and kept me interested

Surprisingly good

I almost quit this halfway through. I'm glad I didn't. It was a slow start, and I wasn't fond of some of the imagery. However, that same disturbing imagery that I didn't care for comes from Jonathan Maberry's incredible use of language. Like Stephen King, violence and gore aren't the point - it's the slow unveiling of the story The action and acts of the characters are wrapped in words like gift wrap. His descriptions are incredible, and what he is describing is slowly revealed in his own time. It took awhile to get going, and I got a little bored, but his beautiful use of language kept me going. The story picks up mid way as the threads start to be gathered together. Well written, disturbing, and interesting. Just a normal book by Maberry.

It's a pine deep novel! Mike and Crowe are back, along with a few others.

What a sick, twisted genius Jonathan Maberry is

I don't know how authors like Jonathan Mayberry and Steven King come up with these stories, but wow what a good one this is. I admit there are a couple hours toward the beginning where it seems long in the tooth. However, it is worth the setup for the payout at the end. Ray Porter was the perfect choice for this book. He is the master and brings it to life.

very dark.....

I have listened to nearly ALL of Jonathon Maberry's work, and this is BY FAR the most disturbing and the darkest. Ray Porter.... hats off to you, and I hope to God you didn't have nightmares.
My husband even commented, "This is not the usual stuff that you listen to...."
