About this listen

With news of Horus' treachery spreading across the galaxy, the Great Crusade grinds to a halt as the primarchs and their Legions decide where their loyalty lies - with the Emperor or with the rebel Warmaster.

The Dark Angels, too, face a time of testing, both among the stars and on their home world, Caliban. Luther, once Lion El'Jonson's trusted second-in-command, now languishes as an exile in all but name while his master struggles to thwart the traitors' advance upon the forge world Diamat. But an ancient evil gathers its strength beneath the surface of Caliban, and the First Legion will soon be thrust into a deadly conflict where all that they know will be cast into doubt.

Great Dark Angel book

I love all the action, always something happening. Really loved the character build up, the Techmarine is God tier imo.

For the Lion!

Such a great tale! Horus' Heresy knows no bounds, the epilogue makes certain of that.

Overall the probably in the top three so far

Narrative wise I think this was one of the best written books. I was starting to think the series was getting a little too predictable. There are really some great revelations in the epilogue and the action isn't bad. Narration is mostly fault less except for some reason one of the main characters, a space marine, sound like a kid. Hard to take him seriously when he sounds like his next sentence is going start with "gee willikers, Lion El'Johnson, sir..." Small complaint though.

Make sure you read decent of angels first.

Fans will probably enjoy it

As a Horus Heresy piece and sequel to Descent of Angels, its pretty good all around. Not a good place to start, mind you.

Interesting Rift in the Dark Angels Legion

I'd have liked it more if I liked the Dark Angels more but Zahariel and Nemiel just grate on me for some reason I haven't determined yet. Even still, I enjoyed this book.

It took me a little bit to get into the story but some of the Black Library books are like that. There's a lot of setup but it always pays off.

I hope there is a third part to the Dark Angels' story later on because a lot of this was left open for continuation and by the end I actually was wanting to know what's going to happen with Caliban, with Luthor and Zahariel, and with Lion El Johnson and Nemiel.
