About this listen

On the morning of July 12, 2017, the FBI Boston field office receives what appears to be a hoax call: a man rescued from the waters off Massachusetts has claimed that his sailboat was hijacked and used to smuggle weapons and terrorists into the United States. With local agents tasked to prepare for an evening presidential visit to downtown Boston, and with procedures requiring a response to any threat, no matter how unreliable it may seem, FBI administrative staffer Ben Porter is dispatched to investigate the call. Can Ben, untrained in field work and relying only on his wits and intuition, uncover the deadly plot...in time to stop it?

Wonderful!

Great plot - loved the actors reading. Especially loved the Chicago accent!! I loved how the main character grew in confidence. Well done!

Great plot that could come true...

Exciting story that could come true and as a sailor similar thoughts happen at sea in the early hours...

Excellent first outing!

Fun story and one that will be a worthwhile listen. The use of multiple persons to supply the voices makes the story even more enjoyable as the story unfolds.

Great Thriller and Nail Biter!

Excellent story by an author whom I did not know was an author! The storyline really opened my eyes to just how vulnerable our nation is to an attack as described in this book. The 1st person narration of the protagonist Ben Porter kept me the reader in the moment as I learned about events as he did in real time. The identity of the FBI mole ricocheted back and forth in my mind among the possible rats. This kept me guessing until the end. A great read and highly recommended.

Really enjoyed this book

This is my first Christopher Rosow book. I had high expectations based on the blurbs and reviews. Really good characters with just the right twists to the story. I’ve already bought the next two books in the series.

I loved this book 👍

The story, narration and characters make this book one of the best I've listened to recently. I just bought the four remaining books in the series and charged by ear buds.

Riveting, fast paced thriller. Witty & Immersive

Rosow draws you into Ben Porters world and doesn't let you go. The storyline and setting are unique and novel written with the character depth of a John le Carre, attention to detail like Barry Eisler, Plot development like James Patterson and technical knowledge of a Jack Carr. Strap in, it is a thrill ride that is tough to put down!

A little corny at times

I found myself asking why continue to listen to the book as it seemed a bit corny. However, after listening a while longer, the reading and the story all started to come together. The narration actually fit the story quite well. In the end, I liked the book and the narration. I would definitely recommend it.

Twists and Turns

Slow and sort-of goofy start, but really good story once got going. Some character voices overacted, but bearable. But overall book kept me interested in next move. If real, being able to sail from USA out into open ocean and return with no scrutiny does portend some possible bad situations for drug, illegals, arms, etc. smuggling. Have no ready answers for this situation.
