About this listen

Books 1-4 in the USA Today best-selling Dead Cold series from two-million copy best-selling author Blake Banner

  • An Ace and a Pair (Book 1)
  • Two Bare Arms (Book 2)
  • Garden of the Damned (Book 3)
  • Let Us Prey (Book 4)

Detective John Stone of the NYPD has the best arrest record in the 43rd precinct. But he’s a dinosaur who belongs to another age. Detective Carmen Dehan has such a bad attitude that nobody at the precinct can stomach her. Captain Jennifer Cuevas wants them both out of the way and thinks they make a perfect pair. So she gives them the Cold Cases file—the cases nobody gives a damn about.

She has no idea just how hot a cold case can get.

Ten years back, Nelson Hernandez and his four cousins were playing poker in a dive at Hunts Point. Somebody came in, blew them away, and beheaded and castrated Nelson, leaving his head and his balls on the table. There was no shortage of suspects: the Jersey Mob, the Triads from Manhattan, or the 43rds own bent cop, Mick Harragan. But nobody was ever charged, and the night of the murder Mick Harragan went missing with Nelson’s wife, Maria.

Now Stone and Dehan plan to find him—whatever the consequences…

THE DEAD COLD SERIES

This is an excellent series. This is a four book boxset. There working on cold cases. Detective John Stone and Carmen Dehan. All four books grabbed my attention at the start. I loved how John and Carmen worked together. I give each book a five star. John is older with a lot of experience and Carmen can hold her own in any situation. They make a great team. I will continue with this series. There is a lot of books in this series. Also more Boxsets. Adam Grupper does a great job narrating this book. Couldn't put down

Skeptical at first but was hooked within a few minutes. The narrator's "meh" delivery helped set the mood. Twists and unseen turns made this a reason not to go to bed but stay up to see what was next.

The first two books or reminiscent of old fashioned murder mysteries. Both very good

The second two books the author showed his disdain for the Catholic Church a bit to much

The Cold Case files are really interesting

Listened to 4 books so far. There are 30 all together and I plan on listening to all of them. Very good Detective books and love the twist and turns each book has. Author is very good and keeps your interest from being too the end of each book. But I really love the narrator who is so good at giving the books life. He can do any accent he wants and makes them seem alive. He has mastered males- females- children- old people- crazy deranged people- and different foreign accents . The narrator handles all of this with ease. Switching back and forth between characters and their accents is a piece of cake for him. So glad he is reading these books and I plan to look into more of his readings.

Good mysteries

I had fun listening to these books. I enjoyed the characters. There was some good mystery. The only reason I knocked it down one star was because there were a lot of characters and I found myself getting confused about who was who sometimes (but maybe I was just distracted). The narration was great.
