About this listen

He took a knee for social justice. Now, he's dead.

Controversial quarterback Jimmy Rydell’s body was found naked - on the Central Park carousel. Who killed him? How did he get there two days after he disappeared? And why was the body frozen?

Jimmy’s team just wants to move on, after collecting on the $20 million insurance policy. Jimmy’s teammate - the one who threatened to kill him - swears he wasn’t there. Jimmy’s bodyguard had the night off. Somebody is going down for this if NYPD homicide detectives Mike Stoneman and Jason Dickson can find a theory that explains all the bizarre facts. They just hope the case doesn’t tear the team, and the city, apart first.

Another great story line in the Mike Stoneman series! Full of laughter, intrigue, and suspense.

Superb cast of characters!

The author continues to deliver great detective thrillers with books that are “stand alone” but brings in elements of his previous books to continue to develop the characters Mike Stoneman and Jason Dixon. I find myself, with each new novel, competing the book or audio with a few days. This particular novel takes us into the world of professional sports and touches on topics from point shaving, to racism, to sexism, in a saga with many twist and turns in the world of big business, big money and professional sports.

Mr Chapman’s books continue to deliver that enjoyable experience of trying to figure out “who did it” while at the same time drawing us closer to the characters in his series. A must read for all of the detective thriller fans….

Another great thriller delivered by Kevin Chapman!

I have to say that one of my favorite things about these novels is how the main character starts out with biases against certain groups, but through the story, he learns and grows. I wish that was more common. So many series pretend these issues don't exist or that you can't unlearn biases.

My favorite of the series

The reader ruined what could have been a decent story. Nearly all the characters voices were like listening to a scredriver being dragged across a china plate.

Disappointed
