About this listen

Dive into the #1 best-selling mystery series listeners are comparing to Connelly, Patterson, and Baldacci.

How do you catch a killer who's already behind bars?

Thomas Austin was once a prominent NYPD detective, known for locking up a psychopathic serial killer dubbed "The Holiday Baby Butcher". Now retired in a small beach town in the Pacific Northwest, Austin runs a little café, trying to overcome the loss of his wife, a district attorney who was gunned down only one year ago.

But when a mysterious bag of bones appears on a nearby beach, Austin is dragged back into law enforcement for one last job. The Holiday Baby Butcher is behind bars, so it has to be a copycat.

But with each new clue, the killer seems closer and closer to the real thing. Now Austin must overcome the darkness of his past to chase a killer as twisted as any America has ever seen. And when Austin finally learns the truth, it's a twist so shocking it shakes him to his core, and threatens his life.

The Bones of Point No Point is the mesmerizing debut crime thriller from D.D. Black, perfect for fans of James Patterson, Lisa Regan, Michael Connelly, and David Baldacci.

Awesome book

I won’t go into the description of the book because it was already done and much better written than I could ever do. I am normally not a crime suspense fan in the books I read. It is a fabulous book. It held my attention and kept me coming back to finish the book. I found it to be awesome! And that goes a long way in what I think about this book. Kept me guessing the whole way through. Now I’m on to his next book. Thank you D.D. Black for the story! You better write fast, I can read a book in one day. I’m your latest fan.

D.D. Black did a fabulous job in writing this book. I was excited to know that it was released on audible so I can work and listen at the same time.

Joe Hempel did a fabulous job in narrating the story. Great voice to listen to.

Great story

Good story although not complex. Fun as it is set near where I live and accurately described the area.

The bones at point no point

This was an excellent book! What a read! It was so well written,I hope there is not a true basis for this story. A teenage couple find a bag of bones on the beach. The bag is a fancy gift bag.The bones are a baby bones. This killer was locked up already, or was she? Ex cop Thomas Austin is dragged back into this case, though he is retired. Joe Hempel is a terrific narrator. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Marginal

This was just ok. Seemed unoriginal. Sloppy, unsatisying ending. No comparison to Bosch. Was disappointed.

good story and likeable main character

Use contractions or it sounds like you're a caveman. I'll have to get book 2. Good story that keeps you hooked.

Really enjoyed!

This was a new character for me and I really loved it. I’m looking forward to reading more in the series or listening to listening to more, whichever the case may be.

Meh

I believe I would have enjoyed it more if the narrator didn’t sound like a robot.

Love PNW settings

I’m a sucker for a mystery in the Pacific Northwest, like-able characters, familiar descriptions and a plot line that doesn’t drag on or have weird (nonsense) twists. This fit the bill. I’ll be continuing the series.

Early Effort

I feel like the author used a cookie cutter to write this book - so many standard formulas: detective with estranged/dead wife/girlfriend; difficult/incompetent boss, loner, nearly clairvoyant read on people, complex relationship with the press, tortured past. Thankfully, no substance abuse/nicotine addiction! I’m hoping the writing gets better as the series progresses with better descriptions of the environment, the motivations, and personal relationships.

The reader was just ok. I got tired of hearing his emphasized last consonant of words. It distracted from the story, because people don’t talk like that. I felt like I was hearing a drama student instead of a story teller.
