A Great Performance

Jason Vu’s performance of some of these stories is what I enjoyed the most about this listen. I absolutely love when a narrator goes out on a limb and does a performance.I’m not into creepy or weird, I like my horror plenty bloody or at least scary. And they’ve got both of those in here. I can honestly say I’d be able to enjoy listening to this again in the future.

Fear of Clowns A Horror Anthology: Coulrophobia Stories
🌟🤡🌟🤡🌟🤡🌟🤡🌟🤡
29 amazing authors and 29 Amazing short horror stories, all based on creepy clowns! These stories are super spooky and intense! Some more horrifying than others, but they are all fantastic! I’m a sucker for great clown stories and scares!

A few stand outs for me are:

-Mr. Tasty Crinkle by Craig E.Sawyer
-Pop by Jonathan Lees
-Giggles in the Glitch by Dex Bryant
-Grease Paint and Monkey Brains by Duncan Ralston
-No one wants to go to Happy Land by Douglas Ford
-The Grim Chameleon Apparatus by Michael A. Reed
-Ordinary People by Rachel Harrison
-The Last Laugh by Graham Masterton & Karolina Mogielska

The narrator’s did a very good job also!

More than just Pennywise

I'm going to start off by saying It by Stephen King is probably my favorite book of all time. I remember being in high school and reading it for the first time and falling in love with the characters, the small town, and the story. When I saw that there was a Fear of Clowns anthology, and that there were some authors I know listed in it, I jumped at the chance to read it.

There were a few misses. There were some stories that I really didn't care for. But there were also some stories that I absolutely loved! Graham Masterton's The Last Laugh honestly freaked me out a little bit.

You also have the likes of Duncan Ralston and Aron Beauregard who wrote just amazing stories. But I think my favorite was Adam Cesare's story about an author trying to stay relevant.

Overall this was a fun read, and Jason Vu preformed more than read this, and that drew me in!

Great job overall!

Coulrophobia!

I don't suffer from Coulrophobia (the fear 0f clowns)...or at least I didn't before I read this collection of short stories. Featuring many of the most popular horror authors of the current time, this is a great group of tales!

As with all anthologies, there are some stories that are pretty good, a few that are really good and a handful that are the type to stick with you for a long, long time! Full of plenty of truly creepy clowns, there is also a lot of emotion ("A Very Special Boy" and "Bobo") that will have you grabbing a few tissues. Some of the tales touch on mental illness (maybe?) and a lot feature revenge. Then, you have the truly horrific ones (including one that will gross you out, so heed the trigger warning!).

If you have a fear of clowns (or just enjoy reading horror stories with clowns), this is a great collection. It is also a good way to see if an author's style of writing is for you, since the Editor has included a short bio of each author which list some of their other works. The narrators do a great job, especially Jason Vu. His performance really brought the horror to life and was absolutely fantastic!

Thanks to said Editor for giving me the chance to read and listen to this truly horrific collection!

Good Stories, Mixed Narration

Overall, Fear of Clowns delivers a solid mix of eerie tales that hit just the right balance of unsettling and engaging. The stories are diverse, and there’s definitely some creativity in how the fear of clowns is explored throughout the anthology.

However, my experience with the narration was a bit mixed. The male narrator brings a strong, captivating presence that pulls you into each story, keeping the suspense alive and the chills running down your spine. On the other hand, the female narrator left me somewhat disconnected. Her voice had an odd, AI-like quality to it, which made it harder to stay immersed in the more intense moments of the stories. It lacked the depth and emotional nuance that you’d hope for in a horror anthology.

While I did enjoy the majority of the book, the inconsistent narration makes it just a 3-star listen for me. If you’re okay with some robotic tones, then give it a shot—but be ready for a few moments where the fear fades away due to a flat delivery.
