About this listen

Some stains don't come out....

Raised in a household so filthy it was stomach-spilling, Vera involuntarily evolved into a neat freak. Upon discovering she and her disabled husband, Daniel, are expecting, she needs fast cash.

Her obsession with cleanliness sprouts the concept that her skills can be put to use in a unique way. She takes a stab at the booming door-to-door vacuum sales business of 1988.

All is going well until she arrives at the steps of a house that will change her forever. The steps of an evil that resurrects the ghastly memories she so desperately tried to wash away.

Nothing will prepare you for the nastiness, disorder, and sickening horror brought forth by...the Slob. The Slob has received critical praise and as a result has been nominated for the 2021 Splatterpunk Awards!

So disgusting

I can handle gore but when it comes to the sexual assault it was hard to handle.

I feel dirty-like I’ve participated in something illegal

Well…ummm - IDK what to say about this one. It started out nice and innocent enough. Then BAM! All hell breaks loose. I don’t think any “normal” sane person could even begin to imagine the depravity that begins this woman’s torture. It’s not that it’s a bad book…it’s just a bit too much over the top containing the most disgusting violations that I felt dirty listening. It was like I was participating in something borderline illegal. I liked the wrap up and ending. However, I don’t think I’ll be listening to the Son of the Slob.

Disgusting but tasteful

It was so incredibly hard to listen to yet hard not to hear more of the story, as a mother myself it was especially hard to listen to the part with the dumbbell ….. will be listening to more books

It's ok.

Tries a wee bit too hard but it's a decent bit of fiction. The Narrator really takes this one from a two star to a three. She does a very good job with what's here. It's not really horror in my opinion.

Was going to vomit

The description of the violence inflicted was so well visualized I thought at some points I might vomit!!! Well done… from one author to another….

If you’re looking for a wtf kind of book , this is absolutely a perfect read . But if sensitive I suggest a different book. Overall I loved the book and devoured in a few hours. Now to start the next book 🖤

Gore fest

It’s a good book, just not my type. Frankly I don’t even want people who know me to know I listened to it. It would cause too many questions. But I’m glad I read it. How can you know where your boundaries are if you don’t cross them from time to time?

Came for the Gore, but Left Disappointed

As a lover of horrific fiction, I was excited to read this. I've heard nothing but good things about this book, emphasizing how disgusting it was. Honestly, I wasn't really disappointed in that aspect; I pictured every grotesque act and scene described and it was awesome--I love pushing my limits as I don't have triggers.

However, I'd say the last half to quarter of the book was where my disappointment quickly arose. The ending was definitely rushed, felt disconnected from the initial plot. Not to mention the unnecessary elements of racism and homophobia. It was just pointless. As far as the *ending* ending goes, this is where I thought, "No, just no."

This should've been edited better to have an ending that made more sense (I know it's fiction, but you know what I mean), and it really could have stayed as a single book, no sequel needed. I'm willing to read another book by Beauregard, but I'm definitely cautious of the non-graphic themes he presented in this one.

Gore Fans

Take what you will fromnthe reviews. This type of book isn't for everyone, and that's okay. This was written for fans of extreme horror by a fan of extreme horror. A mix of great storytelling with brutal violence and gore.
