About this listen
It was a killer party.
Caro Lamont, Laguna Beach's favorite pet therapist, is thrilled to support the elite fundraising gala for Greys Matter, a SoCal greyhound rescue group. All the guests in the couture-attired crowd are clad in varying shades of grey, the champagne and donations are flowing, and there are 50 gorgeous greyhounds in attendance. But before the evening ends, a stranger in their midst is dead.
Caro sets out to help the rescue group find the identity of the mystery guest but soon finds herself in the doghouse with homicide detective, Judd Malone - oh, and federal agent, John Milner. When there's a second death, Caro is convinced she's on the track of someone who wants a secret to stay buried, but it's a race to see whether Caro can uncover the truth before the killer decides she's next.

Miracle Springs is a place of healing. Strangers flock there hoping that the natural hot springs, five-star cuisine, and renowned spa can cure their ills. And, if none of that works, they often find their way to Miracle Books, where, over a fresh-baked scone from the Gingerbread House bakery, they exchange their stories with owner Nora Pennington in return for a carefully chosen book. That's Nora's special talent: prescribing the perfect novel to ease a person's deepest pain and lighten their heaviest burden.

Spencer Quinn’s first original audio short story reveals how everyone’s favorite detective duo - Chet the Dog and P.I. Bernie Little - came to meet before their first big case in Dog On It. As fans know, Chet first met Bernie on that fateful day when he flunked out of K-9 police school. The details of that day, though, have always remained a little vague (like so much in Chet’s doggy brain). All we know is that Chet had been the best leaper in his K-9 class, but for some reason he failed his final leaping test...and that a cat was involved...and that there was some blood. But whose?

Baseball may be America’s official favorite pastime, but for Martha Rose and her friends, quilting is far more fun… and a lot less dangerous. A diamond brocade pattern is more quilter Martha Rose’s style than a baseball diamond - especially when it comes to the new eyesore of a stadium ruining her lovely San Fernando Valley neighborhood. Martha doesn’t know a bunt from a bundt cake, but when she stumbles upon the battered body of baseball coach Dax Martin, she doesn’t need a scorecard to know it’s foul play.

It was inescapably chilling, as if the murderer was methodically working his way down a page torn from the phone book. The three victims brutally killed in their own homes had one thing in common: They were all listed as M. Douglas. The fact that Mara Douglas is next on the list has her jumping at shadows, until FBI agent Aidan Shields shows up to make sure she doesn't become the fourth victim.

Story
It was inescapably chilling, as if the murderer was methodically working his way down a page torn from the phone book. The three victims brutally killed in their own homes had one thing in common: They were all listed as M. Douglas. The fact that Mara Douglas is next on the list has her jumping at shadows, until FBI agent Aidan Shields shows up to make sure she doesn't become the fourth victim.

Story
Thriller scribe Sophie Katz is as hard-boiled as a woman who drinks Grande Caramel Brownie Frappuccionos can be. So Sophie knows it's not paranoia, or post-divorce, living-alone-again jitters, when she becomes convinced that a crazed reader is sneaking into her apartment to reenact scenes from her books. The police, however, can't tell a good plot from an unmarked grave.

Cute Cozy Mystery with Puppies
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. I loved that I didn't have to read the other books before this one. The main character was such a relatable character. I loved the story and the narrator. I would read the ones before this one and any after.

Clever tribute to greyhounds
What I liked most:
-Lots details about greyhounds and the compassionate people who rescue and care for them.
-Very clever title.
-Simple story that is best suited for young adults.
What I did not enjoy:
-Narrator voice was robotic and slow. I tried listening to it on a faster speed. But, that only made the voice more robotic.
-Unrealistic representation of the amount of funds needed to run a pet rescue.
-Distracting details about what clothing everyone is wearing. Adds no value to the book.
-I found the plot to be too simplistic and predictable.

Great fashions
amateur-sleuth, pets, dogs, murder-investigation
California glitz goes to the dogs. The first murder happened at a big money fundraiser for retired greyhounds, and Caro was really on the scene this time. She starts sleuthing the very next day to prove that the easy answer is not always the right one. If you enjoy fashion descriptions you'll love this book!
Evelyn Marcial does a great narration, perky without gushing. I normally listen at faster than standard speed, and lost nothing by doing so.

Cute, Light and Fun
This is the first Pampered Pets Mystery I've listened to. I would definitely listen to another. I really enjoyed the fun pet facts sprinkled throughout the story. You can tell the author has a definite appreciation for dogs.
I thought the story played out very well. I honestly didn't know who was the culprit until the very end. Just the way I like it!
The characters/cast was just the right number and there was a nice variety. Narrator Evelyn Marcail did a nice job handling both female and male voices. She didn't over perform and always kept me in the story. This made for a fun listen. Nice job!
I like how the story is set to make you want to come back for more. This story can be listened to without knowledge of the first 4 books. The author gives you enough information to keep the story going, and invites the listener to go back and listen to the previous stories to fully appreciate back stories.
I was given a free copy of this audiobook by the author. My views are my own and left voluntarily.

Bow-Wow-Wow!
"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."
Funny, light book, no real surprises (sad) and a lot of pooches! If you like tall, sexy redheads, this is your book! Don';t expect any character development though, its a fun ride but no real depth.

So Much Drama
I'm required by law to state that I received a free copy of this audio book in exchange for my unbiased review.
I was drawn to this book because I like me a good cozy mystery and the title was cute. I tried really hard to like it but I struggled so much to get through it that I eventually gave up. There was so much drama, the characters felt more like angsty teenagers than adults, and the storyline kinda got lost in the mix. I'm sorry, I really wanted to like this but angsty adults are just not my thing.

Fifty Shades of Greyhound
I listened to Fifty Shades of Greyhound without having listened to any of the prior books in the series. While I’m sure knowing the history of the characters would have helped, I had no problems understanding this story. This was an enjoyable cozy mystery.
I will certainly be looking at more books by the author and narrator!
