About this listen

With a dark past of abuse, Toby Smith full-on raged against life.

After years of neglect from his junkie mother, Toby turned to the one thing that made his fury go away - mixed martial arts. Now, as an adult, he lives and breathes his training club and fighting, inside or outside of the cage. But when a mousy blonde walks into his gym for a self-defense class he's teaching, that all fades away.

Sara Carmichael was always a doormat - until the day she took her life back.

Struggling to cope with years of physical and emotional abuse from a boyfriend, things take a turn for the worse. Drunk and in rare form, he nearly violates her in unspeakable ways. So she leaves and escapes from New York to California, hoping it's far enough away that he won't find her.

Sparks fly in the most uncommon places.

When Sara and Toby meet, they never expected it would be in a sweaty gym. When they are together, Toby feels things he can't understand. But when Sara's past clouds their present, will she be strong enough to defend her new life? Or will Toby snap and become the man she's always feared?

It's one thing to fight for love, but it's another when you're fighting destiny.

MC for the newbie?

Now that we know the Forsaken Sinners from .5, we know Toby. He is the alpha guy who wants desperately to have his own old lady... enter Sarah.

YES! It is candied apple MC. It's not gory or realistic or anything like that... it's like a hot alpha male story with the MC theme waved over the top. Nothing too intense or shocking... follows all popular storylines that are similar but the writing is great, the characters are engaging and it was just enough for me while I'm in a rut. Something to hold my attention but make me feel too much.

Can't wait to keep going with the series!

Narration is great. No strong male voices but just enough change so you can tell the difference. Engaging story telling.

Love the story line

Great story and worth a credit but needs a male and female narrative. Tia does a great job but it sometimes gets confusing

sappy

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

not really

Any additional comments?

This book had a good story line but be aware that it has over the top sappy lines through out it that I just rolled my eye at. I don't mind sappy but this has over the top sappy. It would have been a 5 star if it didn't have those.

Hoping it would get better but didn’t. Horrible narration. Very whiny

This is not a true biker or fighter romance. It is ok. The writer is pretty predictable and just so so there is no great action. To crazy sex, or chaos. It took way longer to get to the end then it should. I finished it because I started it but I could have stopped before the midway point because there was a lot of whining from both the hapless woman and the “alpha male(not so Alpha)

What made it worse is the narrator. The whole book was flat. She did not take in and create any of the characters and she didn’t even differentiate men and woman’s voices which is disturbing in a bad ass alpha male character with a female voice.

Overall it was disappointing. I was hoping halfway through that it would get better, but it didn’t.

Ugh! My ears are bleeding!! Dont waste the credit!

I got 4 hours in and had to stop! I cannot take the main female character and her childish, self centered attitude any more. I think it was made worse by the female narrator. She blows!!! She really didn't have a lot to work with though... The author says what the character is thinking then she has her say it out loud! It gets old real fast. The male characters in this series are really sweet alpha men who bend over backwards for "their" women but the women are just not deserving of the affections. I can't stand whining, crying, me-me-me, women and Ms. Morgan loves to use those as her female leads. I'M OVER IT! Thank the Lord these were included in the romance package and I didn't have to use a credit!
I did make it through the first one in the series, barely, and tried very hard to listen to the second. Nope. Not ever again!
