Publisher's summary

This fight club has one rule: You might be a veteran....

Loving her is the biggest fight of his life....

Home from the Marines, Noah Cortez has a secret he doesn’t want his oldest friend, Kristina Moore, to know. It kills him to push her away, especially when he’s noticing just how sexy and confident she’s become in his absence. But, angry and full of fight, he’s not the same man anymore either. Which is why Warrior Fight Club sounds so good.

Kristina loves teaching, but she wants more out of life. She wants Noah - the boy she’s crushed on and waited for. Except Noah is all man now - in ways both oh so good and troubling, too. Still, she wants who he’s become - every war-hardened inch. And when they finally stop fighting their attraction, it’s everything Kristina never dared hope for.

But Noah is secretly spiraling, and when he lashes out, it threatens what he and Kristina have found. The brotherhood of the fight club helps him confront his demons, but only Noah can convince the woman he loves that he’s finally ready to fight for everything.

It starts with You

This was my first book by Laura Kaye and I’m glad I went with this one. Christine and Noah have been best friends since childhood, even though he is a couple years older than her. Being discharged from the marines left Noah lost and angry and he couldn’t figure out how to get a handle on it, while Christine just wanted to be there for her friend. I have a soft spot for books where the main character is a military member struggling to adjust to life back at home because its real and way more common that people think. Noah’s struggle was honest and I felt for both him and Christine while he was tail spinning in depression and self disgust. Luckily Noah found a fight club for former military member and they helped him start to heal before it was too late. Noah was definitely the bigger draw for me with everything he was going through but Christine was also a great character, she wanted to help any way she could but she refused to let him walk all over her. The side characters at the WFC were great and I can’t wait to get to their stories!

As always, Andi Arndt did a great job narrating!

Big heart for this story

I love listening to Andi Arndt and this is a beautiful story about coming home and not feeling home. This is one of the best portrayals I have read for the coming home injured solider and how he/she deals with their new life.

Can a vet w PTSD and TBI find real love

Noah Cortez is lucky to be alive...at least that's what he's been told, but he's finding it hard to believe since he's dealing with TBI and PTSD. He needs to stay away from his bff, Kristina, who is suddenly tempting him to think and do things that 'just friends' should never consider. Kristina is in love with her bff...cliche' but true...now if only she can help him deal with his PTSD then they can have their HEA...right? Unfortunately, Noah thinks that he is too broken for Kristina and keeps pushing her away. Will their friendship survive when Kristina tries to push for more? Will Noah finally seek the help needed to overcome/deal with his injury and disorder? This is a great story that focuses a bit on the aftermath of war injuries. The author did a fantastic job of balancing the hardship involved with these injuries as well as weaving a story of love, acceptance and forgiveness. Totally worth the read/listen.

Thumbs up on awareness of PTSD and depression

I'm not even sure how to say my feelings on this book. Many authors address PTSD and depression, especially in military personnel, but few leave me feeling as though they truly understand the dynamics and struggles of it. This story was one that hit on those aspects truthfully. I understood and I could relate. Yes, it gets down to the nitty gritty of it all. Punching walls from anger to total despair. it addressed all the ranges, and the battle a person fights everyday. No sugar coating which means I loved this book. And luckily because it is a romance, the fight was won, leading to an HEA.

Loyalisa30

This is the first book that I’ve listened to of Laura Kaye and I must say that I really enjoyed the storyline and angst of the book. I loved the honesty and relationship between the main characters and their fight to improve themselves. Their mutual respect for each other and sensitivity to one another’s needs was a wonderful dynamic in the book! Loved it!

it starts within yourself

Laura Kaye grabs you by the heart and squeezes with this story of Noah and Kristina. The view she gives of a returned warrior who sustained serious injuries and tries to acclimate to civilian life is eye opening. Andi Arndt was spectacular. The emotion she pours into the story and the characters is spellbinding.

Started off slow but was so worth it!

I'm just going to say I'm glad I hung in there with this one. It brought so much more than a love story. PTSD is a very real thing. Alot of people are dealing with this and losing the battle. As a military spouse I tend to not wanna read books about the military because they are always sad. This book gave so much more, you can cope positively and have a steamy romance too. 😜

Friends to Lovers magic!

5 stars! I really really loved this! a second-chance romance at its finest. I will definitely be looking into more of Laura Kaye's books as I really enjoyed her writing style, flow of story, and ability to keep me interested and felt the characters were real. Loved the Warrior Fight Club. Makes me want to read the rest in this series. I listened on Audible and the narration by Andi Arndt was amazing! She is incredible.
