Publisher's summary
Kyllan, the Tribunal Elder, is not happy with the idea of taking the mothership to Earth to save the remaining Sirens that have asked for help. There is no help for it. He has given his word to the Siren Queen and she will hold him to it. First, they must make a few stops along to way, to right some wrongs.
Kyllan couldn't have foreseen the trouble a simple trip that should have only taken a couple days to make could cause, but then again the people on Earth had never been easy to deal with. What makes it more complicated is that there is an Earth warship on its way to Mars and perhaps even to Tantalus.
Word has spread amongst those that are being persecuted on Earth and they are reaching out to Kyllan for help in their most desperate hours. The gifted, like Adele, are being exterminated, and those that are not are being used in brutal, inhumane fashions. He is tempted to turn his back and walk away, leaving them to their plight, but cannot find it in his heart to say no. This triggers a private war between the members of his crew along with their allies on Earth, and a crime lord on Earth. It is time for the Tribunes Waterford and Vasalon to shine, which they do in stellar fashion. The Tantalarians are not alone in their fight though, for neither the Sirens nor those on Earth that are being saved intend to be left out of the game.
Will they manage to win the battle waging on the surface of Earth? And will they get back to Tantalus in time to protect their own planet?

Even when he uncovered overwhelming evidence that the highest echelons of the government and fleet command were involved in secret programs and prison camps, he believed it was worth saving. He believed his duty was to see that justice was served even though some factions feared that revealing the truth would cause the Alliance to crumble. With Earth rapidly becoming inhospitable to human life, GS Archean carries a one-way crew of courageous passengers to Uelara, an Earth-like planet in the Cieri star system. Uelara is ideal, except for one minor detail - its distance from Earth. Traveling at sub-light speed, the generation ship won’t reach Uelara within the original crew’s lifetime. It seemed the unthinkable had happened. Someone had actually targeted the Ghalian, an order of assassins known and feared across the systems. It was madness. Only a fool would go after the likes of them. But, it seemed, the galaxy had no shortage of fools. Retaliation most bloody was in order, and one man stood ready to spring into action. Hozark was his name, and he was no ordinary man. He was a Master Ghalian, an assassin skilled in the ways of death. Practical, mechanical, magical, to him it made no difference.

The "gifts," from a long-dead but seemingly benevolent alien race, have been sent to help humanity defend itself against an imminent threat. It’s clear that the gifts are intended to help, but at what price? From the Audie-nominated narrator of The Martian. In eleven years' time, a million members of an alien race will arrive at Earth. Years before they enter orbit, their approach will be announced by the flare of a thousand flames in the sky, their ships' huge engines burning hard to slow them from the vast speeds needed to cross interstellar space. These foreboding lights will shine in our night sky like new stars, getting ever brighter until they outshine even the sun, casting ominous shadows and banishing the night until they suddenly blink out.

This loop has real lords and it's unlikely that they'll be happy to hear about an uninvited guest. And that isn't his only problem - all of his memories of the last year have simply disappeared, but the world around him has changed in the meantime.

Boss loves to dive historical ships, derelict spacecraft found adrift in the blackness between the stars. Sometimes she salvages for money, but mostly she's an active historian. She wants to know about the past--to experience it firsthand. Once she's dived the ship, she'll either leave it for others to find or file a claim so that she can bring tourists to dive it as well. It's a good life for a tough loner, with more interest in artifacts than people.

The first book in C.J.Cherryh's eponymous series, Foreigner begins an epic tale of the survivors of a lost spacecraft who crash-land on a planet inhabited by a hostile, sentient alien race. From its beginnings as a human-alien story of first contact, the Foreigner series has become a true science fiction odyssey, following a civilization from the age of steam through early space flight to confrontations with other alien species in distant sectors of space. It is the masterwork of a truly remarkable author.

I need more
I have gone through this entire series and this book did not disappoint. As title states this is the final contact that the Tantalus people will have with Earth. This story had so many different perspectives and a lot going on that if you have not read a story from M.A. Abraham before you will be completely lost. When I first started this series I felt that way only because there are lots of people that play a part in the overall scheme of the series.
When this book first opens the Tribunal Elder, Kyllan, is trying to bring home the sirens that are located on Earth. He thinks that this is going to be a two-day pick up and will make his way back home. Little does he know that know, that was not the case. There are many people that are persecuted on Earth and also there are Tantalrins that are located on Earth that was exiled.
The deeper the story goes the more and more we realize that everything that the Tantalrins have dealt with since the beginning of this series all goes to one person. He is the cause of everything that has happened to them as well as the Mars exploration.
There is a lot of fighting, reunions, etc happening within this story. I love the reunions that Kyllan had as well as a more in-depth look into the Great Phoenix.
There are a lot of questions that have not been answered and I'm assuming that we have to come to our own conclusions but for me I want a straightforward answer. I do know this is the end of the series however I do hope that there is a spin-off so we get more inside of the phoenixes and why there are so many populating the planet. That was never answered and I am itching to figure out what is truly happening. There are also many characters that were introduced within the story and I want to know more about them. I want them to have their happily ever after and I want to know how they will survive on Tantalus.
I enjoy the narration of Brian Callanan. I am glad that he continued with the voices that I have come to associate with each character and I am looking forward to him narrating other series. He is a narrator that I will actively search for.

Final it is
We have so much going on in this story, but I promise you it is a wild ride. I sat on the edge of my seat for most of it. Kyllan (my BBF from the series ;) ) leading the united Tantalarian population in the rescue mission, and I couldn't be happier with the ending.
Thank you for an awesome series, I am sorry to see it end and I hope there will be more news of Tantalus in the future.
Mr. Callanan outdid his previous books in the series, I didn't think it possible. I didn't hear his voice, I heard the many characters, with their quirks and various accents, quite a few in this books, I 'saw' the story unfold. Made me wonder if there was another person in the booth with him, the female voices were really good. Mr. Callanan, I would listen to anything you narrated.

Sad this is the end
This is the eighth book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I sad we’re at the end of this series. I’ve really enjoyed it. The books in this series are all uncomplicated, at times predictable and at others a new twist gets tossed in, and some things happen too conveniently, yet I love them all.
This book starts as the Tantalarians leave the traitors on Mars and the Earthships have left Earth also on their way to Mars. The a Tantalarians are not returning home right away. They are headed to Earth to rescue some Sirens. In the process they hear from and learn of many others that also want to leave Earth. This mission is becoming complicated and the risk of exposure to the evil humans is increasing. Then they have to make it home before the Earthship decides to venture toward Tantalus. Is this all too much?
This is the eleventh book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Brian Callanan ). He has done a great job with all the books in this series. His male and female character voices are well done and individualized. His voice is pleasant. He performs rather than reads the books.
There are no explicit sex scenes, but there are a few mild ones. There is not any excessive violence. There is the very occasional swearing.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Confused
I must have been confused going into this book. First, it’s the 6th and final book in this series and I had not read the previous 5. Because this book isn’t a standalone, it was extremely difficult to understand. Second, I thought this was a romance, but it never came.
I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
