About this listen
Why Would God Care About My Love Life?
From the woman behind the screenplay and novel, Never the Bride, comes a roller coaster of a love story with God. Cheryl McKay pulls no punches about what it's really like to be single, with your age creeping up, and no end in sight to the wait for love and marriage.
It seems that many years ago, God asked Cheryl to surrender the pen she was using to write her love story. All He wanted was carte blanche. No problem, right? Cheryl tentatively conceded - that is, until it became apparent that the Almighty had no intention of conforming to her writing schedule, much less the tick of her biological clock. In fact, He blew every deadline she ever attempted to set.
As romance seemed to pass Cheryl by, she couldn't help but question: Could God really be trusted to bring her the love of her life?
Written during a long wait, this book opens up Cheryl's painfully honest, personal journals. She explores what it's like to enlist in God's Marriage Boot Camp, and how to survive singlehood year after solitary year. She wrestles with her Creator over multiple best friends that never see her "that way." Then there are those lists of what she wanted - you know, the ones she revised a billion times then laminated for safekeeping. She watches, bewildered, as much younger women find love that seems to elude her.
Through it all, she falls head over heels for a God who proves Himself to be as resistant to her controls as He is faithful beyond her wildest dreams.
Are you still waiting? Have you lost hope? Venture to victory with a woman who knows just how hard it is to wait for the day when you are Finally the Bride. This audiobook includes a collection of real-life, God-written love stories by such authors as Squire Rushnell and Louise DuArt (God Winks Series, Couples Who Pray), and Victorya Michaels Rogers (Finding a Man Worth Keeping).

Story
Since she was just a little girl, Jessie Stone has dreamed up hundreds of marriage proposals and fantasized about wedding dresses and falling in love. She’s been a bridesmaid nearly a dozen times, waved numerous couples off to sunny honey-moons, and shopped in more department stores for half-price fondue pots than she cares to remember. But shopping for one key component in her own happily ever after hasn’t been as productive–a future husband. The man she thought she would marry cheated on her. The crush she has on her best friend Blake is at very best…well, crushing.

Learn to find and play the role God wants most for you to play, not the ones you feel pressured into playing for the sake of others or even our sense of accomplishment and worth. Most of us spend a lot of our lives figuring out when to say yes and when to say no. How to manage our time, reduce stress, do our best for our families, find a little space for "me". But we don't find space for our souls until we learn to step past the yes and no of daily decisions and seek a third option: the best yes. The best yes is the choice that shapes all our other choices.

In Cherish, Thomas teaches us that although there are a countless number of marriages consisting of two people just going through the motions, there are real ways this pattern can be reversed.

Infidelity, deceit, distrust, and shame. Unfortunately, these are recurring themes in many of today's marriages in America - even in the family-values-promoting, Christian-based Robertson family. With a romance that began in junior high, the couple got off to a rocky start but soon settled into married life and had two baby girls. Alan became a pastor in the church where his family had been members for years. Then, when Lisa had an affair, the heartache and the tension was very public.

We know our lives should reflect Jesus. But if we’re being honest, there are days when we face tough, confusing things that can make us feel, well, not like Jesus. As our culture moves further from truth and grace, Christians are unsure of where to turn for sound biblical advice that applies to their everyday struggles. If you’ve ever felt this way or wished someone would talk about things like forgiveness, mental health, broken friendships, church hurt, and more in honest, down-to-earth terms while sticking to what Scripture has to say about them, you’ve come to the right place.

A must read for all Christian singles, men & women
What did you love best about Finally the Bride: Finding Hope While Waiting?
This book should be a 'must read' for Christian singles, men and women. There were a number of things that I loved about this book. One that the author was brutally honest and brave to write her own experiences. This is a tell all from 39 year old Cheryl waiting for "The One." To many Christians, this may seem difficult, but Cheryl is spot on when she explains the reasons for waiting before marriage, listening to God's voice, limiting friendships with men who don't commit and the virtue of chastity. I also liked that Chris, her husband shares his story at the end, apologizing for doing what he did to so many women, stringing them along, which is why I feel both men and women should read this.
It will also be enlightening, so that men can understand what women go through, how hurt they are by their thoughtless actions. Cheryl's arguments are straightforward. The love stories at the end of the book, are particularly good as they reflect on different God written love stories. Her account is painful at times, it did bring me to tears on occasion and I highly recommend this book. The audio version, is fantastic.
What about Shawna M. Washabaugh’s performance did you like?
Shawna brings it to life. You can tell, she loved reading it.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Cheryl thinks this is the one and all the signs point to it, and he dumps her. It made me cry. I did have tears at many moments. When she says she walks down the aisle with her dad.
Any additional comments?
This book should be marketed for men and women.

Great story!! Honest depiction
I think this is one the most honest books I have heard on the topic of singleness. I could relate to so many things that were said. At some points of the story the topic got underneath my skin but I guess that means I really needed to hear it. Overall great story, like the novel it teaches single women that God is our first husband. I like that its not fluffed with a lot of religious cliches but I has an honest account and uses the word of God to support.
