Listened to the book in one day. I loved it. The only thing I hated is Madeleine voice, she had no emotion. I would read this book and not hear it. I do not think I can get passed the terrible narration.

This is a heartbreaking love story of two different people who fall in love for the first time only to discover that the reality of the situation is so much darker and bigger than the both of them. The story begins with Maggie a seventeen year old who is in her senior year of high school. She's a sweet and caring person. She loves her family and her two best friends, Rachel and Daniel and would do anything for them. Her life is anything but fun. She does the same things everyday and is not at all spontaneous. She starts to wish there was something more to life until she runs into Clay Reed, literally runs into him in the school parking lot. He's dark, mysterious and very good looking.  Clay and Maggie form a strong friendship with some serious chemistry! Clay clearly has some issues, with erratic behaviour and massive mood swings, and Maggie tries to get him to talk to her, but Clay ends up having to reveal that he is suffering from serious mental illness. Although, she is shocked by his revelation, Maggie doesn’t care, and after learning about his horrible past, she vows to be the one to stand by him and support him no matter what. There are a few bumps along the way, but their friendship soon develops into a beautiful first love.  Clay is such a broken soul. He is desperate for happiness, to have a normal life with the girl that he loves so passionately, but his illness is a constant factor. Maggie & Clay’s story is one emotionally wild ride. Their relationship followed the array of highs and lows much like Clayton’s mental state. Their love for each other is very deep, and they pretty much exist in their own little bubble, with Clay clinging to Maggie as the one good thing in his life. He battles his illness while Maggie continues to try to help him. She continues to overlook his mood swings, being there for him, and forgiving him when he treats her badly. Clayton’s love for Maggie was so intense but kudos to Maggie she stood by him where others may have walked away. Although it terrified her she never let him down or alone in the dark. Find You In The Dark was raw, beautiful, and soul-moving. I was so emotionally invested that every up and down. I don't know if this book is for everyone, but those that can handle such monumental issues will like this book.

What didn’t you like about Madeleine Lambert’s performance?

I should have read this book not listened to it. Madeleine Lambert read the story with no emotion. I have been listening to audio books since 1995 when they came out on cassettes and there are only a few narrators that I made note never to listen to again and she is one of them. She does the voices of other characters just fine, but all the inner dialogue which is essential to the story, she reads like a machine. No emotion.

All the struggle, but especially the ending.

The narrator is horrible! Skip this audiobook.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I like both Maggie and Clay. They represent a full range of teen emotions in the midst of mental illness and the first love experience.

What didn’t you like about Madeleine Lambert’s performance?

The narrator is just a bad actress. I suggest reading the book on its own.

Not all stories can be happily ever after and this book is one of them; however, it was touching and heart warming. I am looking forward to the second book.

This book and it's sequel, are "Must Reads!!!!" Where is book two in audible? Light in the Shadows! The narrator is so, so...mostly on Maggie's Dad! This book is so worth reading and listening too...I can't believe anyone, anyone is saying don't listen! This book covers the very real and sensitive issues of mental and emotional illness - and love that begins and gives hope to living with this disease. I couldn't quit listening! Maggie and Clay are are lovely couple with painful issues, Clay's bipolar and borderline personality disorders. These are not weaknesses but real issues. Maggie shows the extremely mature and selfless character to keep loving him and to try to understand Clay and help him (not as a fixer) but to realize that Clay, despite his illness Deserves to be loved. I hated the cliffhanger ending - and went to find Lost in the Shadows on Audible (But it's not there!!!!!). I read Lost in the Shadows and believe me, both are very well worth reading and listening to! You won't regret it!

I wish that the author didn't romanticize this relationship. it was so abusive. Maybe because they were teens, I found it too angsty for no reason. Really took alot for me to finish.
