About this listen

It isn't like Charlie to stay out all night without calling, but maybe Olivia doesn't know her little sister as well as she thought.

When Charlie vanishes without warning, the people who love her are worried sick. Even if the law considers her an adult at 19, Charlie's still the baby of her already broken family. Older sister Olivia is determined to figure out what's happened. She finds a lost cell phone, an abandoned car and a shady boyfriend she's never met before. And he's not the only secret Charlie's been keeping.

This disappearance feels uncomfortably familiar, reminding Olivia and her father of another loss years before. But this will be different, Olivia swears. Charlie's coming back.

Great Story

Enjoyable, good story of syblings bonded together, since Mother had walked out. When one part is missing it became center of finding her, and if they do finding out why. Draws you in, and good

Overall, Pretty Good

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I thought the story was enjoyable, siblings being brought together is always nice to hear about and O'Rourke nailed the family dynamics. However, I felt the story fell a little flat without an excitable plot/controversy. We get that the sister is missing, but even the father's reactions seemed childish, immature, and passive. I think the greater mystery was why Charlie went missing and that was resolved almost immediately when we got a glimpse from her perspective. Overall, enjoyable, but nothing exciting.

Beautiful and inspiring story! Highly recommend!

This book is a very warm hearted story with many feel good moments, but also twists and turns that you probably won’t see coming. It delves into family struggles that many people face. Let’s be honest...all families have their own personal issues, so this book (and characters) is easy to relate to. It’s a very honest, candid look into the different feelings and actions of a mother, father, and 2 daughters in a family. It also extends to include some of the feelings and actions of a family who is very close to them, but they are not main characters. It’s just further proof of how we choose to act impacts our own family, as well as those we care about who are outside of our immediate family. The book is written so that different chapters are from each of the individuals point of view so it feels like you get to know the characters. They’re also very personable, so it’s easy to like the characters. It explains how they were all impacted by the choices of others within the family, and why they chose to act and react the way they did. Through listening to/reading about how each of the characters feel, you can come to understand why they made the choices they did. You may or may not agree with them, but it sheds some light on how people all look at things/situations differently. It starts off as a mystery, so at first you are wondering what happened with the disappearance of one of the daughters, but once you discover what happened, the story leads you in a different (but related) direction. To say anymore would spoil the story and ending, but just know that it is a very thought provoking, inspiring, interesting, and feel good book. I’d highly recommend it! I received this audiobook from the author as a free review audiobook at my request, and my review is voluntary and honest and expresses my personal feelings.

Charlie

Charlie's mother abandoned the family when she was six and her sister Olivia was twelve. It was left up to Olivia to basically raise her sister. Charlie fails to return home one night which is completely out of character. With her father distraught, Olivia sets out on a journey to retrace her sister's footsteps. The story is told by each character, and their perspective is given showing us the vulnerability and the emotions of each character. I found the narration excellent with a different voice given for each character. I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
