He’s spoiling for a fight....

Scandal has rocked Kit Morris' well-ordered life and called into question everything he thought he knew about his biological family. In the wake of his father’s death, he’s traveled all the way to North Carolina to find an outlet for his simmering rage. And there’s no better outlet than odious falconer Patrick Spencer. Patrick somehow manages to press all of Kit’s buttons while being way too tempting for his own good.

Falcons aren’t the only thing he’s ready to tame....

Keeping an eye on Kit is supposed to earn Patrick a few easy bucks, and it’s more fun than expected to get under the young man’s skin. But it’s not long before Patrick sees something deeper in Kit, something that reminds him of the wild birds he cares for at his falconry center. He wants to see Kit’s wounded soul fly free again, and he knows it will take patience and hard work to get past all of Kit’s defenses.

But when Kit finds out why Patrick began hanging around him in the first place, it seems to confirm every doubt Kit has about himself, and he refuses to be a pity prize for anyone. Patrick will need to find a way to prove that he wants Kit for real or risk losing out on his chance at true love. And Kit will need to overcome his own issues if he’s ever going to open his heart to what he truly needs.

good listen

Healing and rebuilding trust after truths come to light is a different thing. I liked the tenacity and patience Patrick showed in trying to get Kit to accept and trust help from him. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.

Overall it's enjoyable

I did enjoy the story and the continuation of the series. I did have trouble fitting it into the timeline and that distracted me plus comparatively to the others in the series there isn't much mentioned about the Benson brothers and previous characters which is ok but where is ELI? this one makes it seem like only Nate is with ELI and that annoyed me so much I had to go back to that book it just doesn't make any sense. Otherwise this was a little lighter story, though I also didn't understand Kit's anger but I think that was the point. McKenna does a good job with the narration.

Kit and Patrick

Kit has a giant chip on his shoulder and isn't willing to hide it. He's determined to show up to court and have his say. The way he treated his mom made me smile. Patrick seems like a kind and gentle soul. He's willing to help out his friends by keeping an eye on Kit. Everyone is worried that, with the trial, people may harass their friend. Kit and Patrick really click; enjoying one another's company and the sex is smoking. I was impressed that Patrick owns up to what he's done once it feels wrong regardless of his intentions. The end leaves you with hopefulness for their future and a connection for Kit to his newly found brothers.

Audiobook: excellent narrator

enjoyed it

Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Were there any parts I found annoying: no
Did I feel an emotional connection to the characters: yes
Would I listen to it again: yes

I continue to enjoy each of the Benson Brothers stories. As with all these books, the pace is good, the characters interesting and the story is enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed that Patrick didn't define Kit by his injury and persisted despite Kits' reluctance. Must say I wasn't really a fan of Kit though, I get that he's angry, but that's no reason to ignore the other Benson boy's - they're all going through a difficult situation and I would have liked to see more interaction with them and more time on the court case.

I really enjoy Gage McKenna's narration, I find him easy to listen to and think he's done a great job bringing this book to life. Each Character's personality comes through, all the emotions are there and I was completely immersed in the audio experience.

So good!

What a great series. Every book has you getting to know the different brothers and how they try to figure out the best way to move forward while getting to know one another.

Enjoyable read

This is the fifth book in the Benson Brother Series. This story is about Kit who is another one of Dr. Selwyn’s children and Patrick who friends with Benson. Kit comes to town after the death of his father who raised him to confront to doctor at his hearing. Patrick is paid by the one of the Benson to keep an eye on Kit, once this comes out both men find that they have grown close and are both hurting. It took some time but both men were grownup enough to talk thru the hurt. I cannot wait for the next book in this series. The narration was very well done.

A Lot of Emotions in a Short Few Weeks

The story falls outside of the Benson brothers, bringing in an MC from another family, another town.

Kit comes to town to attend the trial of a doctor who took advantage of his clients, the repercussions being felt even decades
later. What the doctor had done is something not likely to happen, but could possibly happen. It gives the story an edge of tension that colors every character interaction.

Narrator Gage McKenna guides us through the emotional tale, breaking the tension with the cheerful "klee klee" of a young Kestrel.

YOU MUST SAY WHAT YOU WANT IN ORDER TO GET IT

I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review

Another one of Dr. Selwyn’s children is featured in this story. Christopher, “Kit”, Morris is bitter about the way Dr. Selwyn used his sperm to impregnate his mother instead of using her husband’s. He wants to give the mad doctor a piece of his mind, much to his parents’ wishes that he not. Fresh from his father’s recent death, Kit goes to Bennet Wood to see Dr. Selwyn and give him his impression of him. He meets Patrick Spencer and finds a friend and lover. The authors take the reader through the minds and thoughts of the characters and let you see the devastation brought on by the choices made in their lives that are beyond their control. There is a HEA, along with some things to make the reader think about life in general.

The narrator gave me everything I needed to see what was going on in the story
