Trent

How do you go home when home is gone?

I’ve paid my dues for protecting someone I love. In return my family, my life, and my freedom - all have been taken from me.

When a friend calls in a favor, I go from nothing...to having a job and a place to live.

A fresh start brings something more - a woman who brings out my protective instincts. She's been hurt - it's written all over her.

There's one thing for sure, I want her. And I vow that nothing will ever harm her again.

Michelle

I've hit rock bottom, and I've slowly climbed my way back up. Now, I keep myself locked away. It's easier than letting people in and telling them about that night.

I live my life in the shadows because happiness is something that I can't have.

I keep my pain where it belongs, in the past. I keep my secrets buried deep down. Now, my past is colliding with my future, and I'm not sure how I'm going to survive.

But in the midst of the darkness is a shining light: Trent. Sometimes, you find home in the place you least expect it.

Finding Home!

Finding home is the story of two people who meet at a time in their lives when they need each other the most.

Michelle Allows Trent to live at her apartment building after he is released from jail as a favor to her father who was Trent’s cell mate for five years.

Trent and Michelle both have troubled pasts and find solace in each other, Trent protects Michelle from an obsessive tenant who has been stalking her and then helps her overcome her past trauma.

This book is raw and emotional at times, Trent and Michelle’s romance is very sweet and they are both very supportive of each other, I enjoyed the suspense and the story had a couple of really good plot twists.

I did think it was a bit unrealistic that Michelle and the other tenants from her building pretty much instantly accepted Trent into their lives after he was released from jail I would have like to see a bit more of a build up to these relationships.

Great Story!💜

This was a great story that was extremely moving. Angsty, romantic & plenty of family drama. On a side note, IMO the use of the word “baby” was way overused other than that I enjoyed this book very much. The narration was absolutely perfect. Both Sarah & Steve absolutely nailed these characters. Well done!
I recommend this book.

this book is for the female audience

first of, I enjoyed this book immensely, don't get me wrong. it's just a fact that it's geared towards the female reader/listener. this is seen in both the story, the plot and the dialogue...
I can't give many examples without spoiling but something like the fact that all intimate scenes are from the male perspective shows this...

the story is great and the book actually tells a story that just happens to have romance in it, it's not just a crutch as an excuse to write steamy scenes.
the ending actually had me tearing up, just to show how attached I got to these characters...

Sarah and Steve have been my favourite pairing for a long time and this book only solidifies it further, they compliment each other amazingly.

Absolutely loved this audiobook. A must listen to.

What an emotional journey of two damaged souls and an unique group of friends that become and are their family! This story is so beautifully written and narrated. The characters are realistic and will steal your hearts. There will also be some which you absolutely loathe. When family members turned against Trent he ended up in prison, now he gets a second chance working for Michelle. Michelle also had parents that didn't protect her. She is a caring person but fails to see the love of her friends. Their romance is so heartwarming, but filled with perils. The narrators are perfect and immediately capture the listener's attention. I could tell that they put their hearts into the narration. I could close my eyes and picture the story. They are voice artists and highly talented storytellers. I highly recommend this Audible book. It's one that I will listen to again. It's a story that you want to know the ending, but you hate for it to end.

Finding a great story

This is my first story of the authors . This author wrote a story that most hardly touch. It will grab your heart and you will hear it till the very end .
Hero is Trent Heroine is Michelle.
Both Trent and Michelle have hit rock bottom but for different reasons. They both have nowhere to hit but up .
Trent has spent 5 yrs in prison, once he gets out he needs to rebuild his life , a job , a home . Trent was in prison to protect his family. He paid a step price .
Michelle herself paid a high price for a single night.
When Trent and Michelle get together do they save each other

Love Steve Campbell performance on this story. Like Sarah also put she’s not my favourite. The voices are strong and clear and smooth

Love finding new authors and new narrators!

This is my first book by K.L Humpherys and I was captivated with all of the characters and the details that wove them together. There were incredible emotions that kept me fully engaged with this book.

Trent is a wonderful caring person who had the worst luck with his family that lands him in jail for 5 years and he’s been given a chance to create a future from a friend he met while incarcerated. Michelle is the person who has been asked to help Trent get back into society by no other than her father who was Trents cell mate. You will come to love these two and experience all of their trials and successes while enjoying this captivating story especially narrated by Sarah Puckett who I’m a fan of, and also by a new narrator who I loved. Steve Campbell is definitely One narrator that I will be watching in the future. Both of these actors are amazing at capturing the emotions of the characters and bringing them to life. This will be an audiobook that I’m sure to revisit in the future because I loved all of it.

Thank you KL Humphreys, Sarah Puckett and Steve Campbell for this amazing story.

3.5 ☆ story, 4.5 ☆ performance, 4 ☆ overall

This was the first book I've read/listened to by K.L. Humphreys. It was a touching story with main characters that had been through major tragedies. The heroine was fighting depression and suicide, not seeing the people around her who loved her. There were many. The storyline was interesting and I enjoyed the characters. At one point, I was tearing up and at other times I smiled. It had a sweet HEA. There was quite a bit of repeating. If the editor had tightened up some of the details, it would have been better.

This book was recorded in dual narration. Steve Campbell did a good job. Sarah Puckett is a favorite narrator of mine. Once again, her performance was perfection.

Second chance of life

This story is about Michelle finding herself, trying to keep herself together after tragedy when she was a teen. She has strong determination, love by her friends and neighbors. She has suffered loss in her.life , that she has a hard time getting.over.
Trent enters her life after being released from prison. She gives him a chance to make it back into society. His concern, would he be accepted? will he find happiness? Will Michelle and the people in the apartment building, trust him?
Steve Campbell and Sarah Puckett are excellent narrators, they told the story with so much emotion. 🎧AudiobookObsessionReviewer🎧
