About this listen

A new adult romance with sass, steam, and soccer.

What do you do when you encounter the famous footballer voted "Sexiest Athlete Alive" three years running on a soccer field in Germany?

If you're Saylor Scott, you challenge him to a shoot-out. And win.

Saylor's goals have always involved the literal kind constructed from posts and netting. Her single-minded focus has cost her a lot, but it's also earned her recognition as the top female college player in the US. She doesn't get attached, she never gets distracted, and she could care less what anyone thinks of her.

Meeting Adler Beck, the notorious player celebrated worldwide and coveted by women everywhere, challenges her indifference. But Saylor perfected the art of appearing unbothered a long time ago, and her scoring percentage is even higher off the pitch. Might as well add a gorgeous German to the tally.

Because only a fool would fall for a superstar known for breaking hearts alongside records.

And no one has ever accused Saylor Scott of being a fool.

Loved the story line

Loved the story line and wish there were more books to make a series. Maybe there will be

great story. very well written and narrated

I listen to a lot of audio books and don't review often. this is a great story and managed to incorporate realistic characters that were nearly perfect with believable imperfections that made them more approachable. the chemistry between the characters is great, and I think the author did great bringing the main heroine to life even away from the romance.

Truly an epic balanced story. Loved it

Absolutely Epic. This is a new author to me.

I do a LOT of audiobooks .... and I don’t do reviews. But this one is soooo different.

I really loved the way that the FMC was very alpha in her own right and owned her story.

It takes the reader on a different journey than most tropes.

No spoilers below but there is some explanation to assist the reader.

The story was really good and avoided bogging down. It was light and progressed steadily and really well.

There is a good deal of spice / sex / steam and the starting chapters may make some readers a little uncomfortable but perseverance pays off …. it is an amazing journey with more realistic interplays than most.

Our FMC is the leading soccer player in the USA and so a relationship of equals with the FMC makes a lot of sense and helps the character development later in the book.

It opens with a FMC who has issues with her family and is very insecure about long term relationships and can’t see herself being with someone for life . This is a theme through the story as she waits for the relationship to end. As it is a single POV it is hard to see the MMC perspective and this is the book’s journey of her transformation. I liked the way it was a gradual story rather than a series of constructed situations. It made the characters feel more genuine. Tension was never overplayed or never felt stilted.

I liked that the FMC was a strong lead character, rather than a paper-tiger that looked good until a strong breeze. She was strong and true to herself the way we would all want our daughters to be. Her internal dialogue helped the reader keep a balanced perspective.

The MMC was a lot more remote but his signals were clouded due to his more reserved German culture but he kept a mature perspective but was in keeping with the character portrayed.

The overall character development lacked unnecessary grief and antagonism. Many books seem to need to create one of the key characters as a protagonist to get through the narrative or build a story. This took a very different approach to the problems and created a more positive vibe and perspective even.

Overall I finished the book feeling good rather than wrung out from the drama and grief. A pleasant change.

Cannot understand why more people haven't read this .... it was AMAZING

Looking forward to the next one. I am converted.

Cute but a little boring

The plot line itself is great! And during the times the main characters are together you can feel their chemistry and their banter is cute! But… when they weren’t together it was just plain boring. So much explanation about what she was doing and seeing that has nothing to do with the plot line. Especially towards the end I skipped a lot. Performance was perfect! Although the word sophomore was used a lot and I hated the way she pronounced it 😂

I love soccer romance!

Despite the mixed reviews I've come across, I actually love for this audiobook! The fusion of soccer and romance is simply delightful. The protagonist, Sailor Scott, has an infectious and adventurous spirit that pulled me in right from the start.

What's not to adore about a storyline that takes us on a whirlwind journey to Germany, where Sailor's life transforms, and she gets to live her very own romance alongside one of the most renowned soccer stars, Adler Beck? It's the perfect love story!

If you're a fan of sports romance, this book is an absolute gem that will leave you wanting more.

The solo narration was on point!

Love it

Another great story by C.W. Farnsworth! I am obsessed with her writing and this book didn't disappoint. I love sports romance and this is one of the best I've read so far. Adler Beck and Saylor had the most explosive chemistry I've rrad about in a while. The detail, the buildup, their chemistry, and everything that got them to their HEA was an absolute delight to read/listen to!

The narration was delightful! Great job!

Great Performance for Audible Version

I love CW Farnsworth. She has a way of writing strong female characters without being over the top. Sailor straddles a line of almost being unlikable if it weren’t for the glimpses of why she is so cold and arrogant. I rated four star only because the story is told in single POV. The performance on Audible was great. The performer was able to deliver the accents and male voices without detracting from the story.

All the ways I love and swoon this story

So we’ll written, so we’ll narrated, such a great love story!!! I love strong and powerful FMC and nothing says power like a college soccer phenom going head to head with the world’s top pro footballer. I’ve never read a story where the love interests are equally matched, talent, looks, popularity, sass, s*x and dating history (notoriety), and passion for the sport and each other. Usually one is ‘less than’ in some capacity leaving the other wondering “why them” but not hear. Sailor is just as much a power player as Beck and they combust. My only sadness is that we didn’t get a second epilogue, maybe 5-7 years later, after marriage, Olympics, and what home country they are living in. I also would have loved more development of their families, they sounded interesting
