About this listen

After being dumped on her 21st birthday, Bailey James rebounds right into the arms of her ex’s biggest competition...

Chase Carter: antagonizer, womanizer, and infamous left winger for her college’s rival team.

Following a string of scandals and substandard grades, Chase is on thin ice with his teammates and tyrannical coach. The last thing he needs is to have his focus and loyalty called into question by fraternizing with his team’s #1 competition, but a beautiful stranger who throws herself at him one night is too tempting to pass up...until she throws up on his shoes.

Caught in the midst of a bitter rivalry that extends far beyond the arena, Chase and Bailey are on opposite sides of the bench. He’s worked his entire life to secure a future in the NHL. She’s tagged along while her brother has done the same. Fraternizing with the enemy is definitely out of the question, but what if the enemy is impossible to resist?

Offside is a steamy new adult college romance. It is book one of the Rules Of The Game series but can be listened to as a complete standalone.

Love!

I loved this hockey romance! I am forever in my hickey era. I did enjoy the length of this story. I think it adds to the relationship and gives a better story.

Long but good

Well, I finally dove into this much hyped, TT lauded hockey romance, and I'm glad I finally caved, because I really enjoyed it. This felt a lot like some of those OG new adult, college romances with all that first love theatrics, mean girl vibes, fun found family, and some ex-drama. Bailey and Chase have a delectable chemistry, I loved for all the heart and heat between them, and I love nothing more than a reformed bad boy who will do anything to get and keep and protect the girl. SWOON. He's everything, and I adored them together. I loved that we got so much plot of them being together, learning to be a couple and find their trust and balance, and I always love all the first love college antics. I do think there were some plot points that were dropped/could have been more thoroughly threaded and explored, and the pace definitely lulled in the middle as we had a lot of content without a clear conflict direction, but I loved them both so much together that I'd read even more of them just being all coupley. All in all, mostly worth the hype- and the audio is really great and compelling narrated. ADORED both narrators and the emotional expression they brought to the performance.

Terrific!

Finally! A storyline that doesn’t follow the standard romance cliches!! I haven’t had the excitement in a listen for a long time to want to leave a review. So refreshing.

Book is super long and I was getting weary but I power through one book start to finish without a break. Had I taken a break, I wouldn’t want to come back- but that’s a me problem. If you’re “normal” and can pace yourself you’ll enjoy.

5+ Star performances by Stella Bloom and Gabriel Spires. First time listening to Spires’ and he’s now added to my top male performers! He made Carter the perfect book boyfriend. Confident but never demeaning, tender, comforting, and uplifting towards the MFC. A little alpha but it wasn’t portrayed in the usual corny romance alpha style.

Bloom was great too, she has a great
male voiceover. The MFC is naive but she was open to new experiences, learning to trust herself and able to work on building a healthy relationship. All very relatable to reality and I liked it (saw myself a lot in the character so was relatable to me) and Bloom made the character very likable and not whiny.

Worth a credit for sure!! For now, it’s included with the Plus catalog- a great way to get hooked into the series to see what happens next.

I love the story line

The story line is nice and the pov’s. However in the beginning I thought Bailey sounded like she was a robot or AI. As the book progressed it gets better. Loved the book

Review:
Good story golden retriever book boyfriend that helps heal her from her ex’s bullshit. Not a whole lot of plot but happy and good banter. Lighthearted and spicy (2.5/5).

Loved chase

Loved the relationship between them and the plot twist. James went through a lot but chase has always put her first.
