About this listen

Inconsistent psychic Leda Foley and Seattle detective Grady Merritt return to solve the case of a missing couple in this sequel to the “delightful” (The New York Times Book Review) mystery Grave Reservations.

When psychic travel agent Leda Foley is approached by a man searching for his sister, she quickly agrees to help. The missing woman disappeared with a vintage orange car, a fat sack of her employer’s cash, and a grudge against her philandering husband—a man who never even reported her missing.

Meanwhile, Seattle PD detective Grady Merritt has temporarily misplaced his dog. While he’s passing out bright pink “Lost” flyers at the Mount Rainier visitor’s center, the wayward pooch appears—with a human leg in his mouth.

Thanks to DNA matching, Grady learns that the leg has something to do with Leda’s new client, and soon the two cases are tangled.

Theories abound, but law enforcement is low on leads. Lucky for Grady, Leda has a few ideas that might just be crazy enough to work. They’ll need one yellow dog, a fair share of teamwork, and perhaps a bit of Klairvoyant Karaoke to piece the clues together in this “undeniable treat” (Gwenda Bond, New York Times bestselling author) of a mystery.

I stumbled upon the author’s first book in this series by happenstance, and as I flipped through the pages on my 14 hour flight, I was so glad I did. This second book’s storyline did not disappoint! Although it was a quick listen, the plot still managed to be funny and engaging. Nor did it lag unnecessarily.

The only negative critique was the narrator for the detective. The book is so quirky and upbeat, but his narration really dulled that down for me. By no means is he a bad narrator, but this book just wasn’t the right fit for his tone of voice and delivery. I found myself wondering, why we even needed 2 narrators.

All in all, it was a 4.5 out of 5. I am in love with the author’s writing style and the characters. I can’t wait for the next in the series.

Great book!

The Male Narrator leaves MUCH to be desired, It’s a most unfortunate addition that will hopefully not be repeated in the next book. All of his female characters sound like strange High School movie knock offs. The saving grace for this book is the exquisite story line and subtle humor.

The Male Narrator leaves MUCH to be desired, but good story.

This book is the second one in Cherie Priest’s series about Lena, a travel agent with emerging psychic talents, and Grady, an open-minded police detective. I enjoyed both books. The writing is excellent with fun dialogue and cast of characters. Quite a few twists and turns keep you guessing as the unlikely duo work to solve murder mysteries. Fun and five stars!
I hope the author continues the series!

Just as good as the first one of the series. This book had enough twists and turns to keep me on my toes. Just when you’re sure who done it- you’re not. Thoroughly enjoyable. Looking forward to #3.

Fast paced with a twisty plot

Entertaining story, great for light “reading.” Surprising to myself, I binged it. Left me curious if this is a series, reads like it could be

Cherie Priest has done it again. Another wonderful mystery with just enough fantasy to keep it very interesting. My only disappointment with this book is that the third one isn’t available yet well this book is a standalone. You also have to read the first one in the series grave reservations. Highly recommend! Definitely five stars.

Another excellent book!

I loved the first book in the series and have been waiting for this one. It has not disappointed. This is not a high drama/high stakes type of book. It’s an enjoyable mystery of a found body (part), a missing person case and the psychic travel agent working on both.

Well written and fun characters established in the first book return for a satisfying and enjoyable read.

A very enjoyable read

I hope Cherie Priest continues to write more stories involving these characters! So fun to watch the interaction between Grady and his eccentric psychic songstress! Great combination of mystery and fun interaction. This book was no exception! Definitely recommend!

Flight Risk is a well-written and well-developed cozy mystery with an entertaining plot. I look forward to the next book.

I enjoyed this book for the friendships, the little extra-sensory perception and the light mystery. If you want a tough mystery that shocks or surprises, go elsewhere. If you're looking for something to take your mind off of this crazy world we live in, and you want to feel loved and cozy, give it a try. Excellent narrators. Cute dialogue. Overall a book thats almost as good as a good soak in the tub. Relaxing and doesn't take a lot of brain power.

Good enough for light listening
