Publisher's summary

Number one New York Times best-selling author and master of horror Stephen King teams up with Bev Vincent of Cemetery Dance to present a terrifying collection of 16 short stories (and one poem) that tap into one of King’s greatest fears - air travel - featuring brand-new stories by King and Joe Hill, “an expertly compiled collection of tales that entertain and scare” (Booklist).

Stephen King hates to fly, and he and co-editor Bev Vincent would like to share their fear of flying with you.

Welcome to Flight or Fright, an anthology about all the things that can go horribly wrong when you’re suspended six miles in the air, hurtling through space at more than 500 mph, and sealed up in a metal tube (like - gulp! - a coffin) with hundreds of strangers. Here are all the ways your trip into the friendly skies can turn into a nightmare, including some we’ll bet you’ve never thought of before... but now you will the next time you walk down the jetway and place your fate in the hands of a total stranger.

Featuring brand-new “standouts” (Publishers Weekly) by Joe Hill and Stephen King, as well as 14 classic tales and one poem from the likes of Richard Matheson, Ray Bradbury, Roald Dahl, Dan Simmons, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and many others, Flight or Fright is, as King says, “ideal airplane reading, especially on stormy descents…Even if you are safe on the ground, you might want to buckle up nice and tight.”

Each story is introduced by Stephen King and all will have you thinking twice about how you want to reach your final destination.

average audiobook

not bad, not good, the best was Stephen King's introduction. nightmare at 20000 feet made a better twilight zone episode then audio story, many of the stories just too much talking not scary enough.

Coffee, Tea, or.......

Wonderful mix of stories traveling down a sometimes bumpy runway. Very enjoyable. One story really stuck with me. I won't say which on it is, but it made me hope I am a lucky bastard.

love this anthology

all of these stories brought a different kind of flying fear to me. not sure I can ever get on a plane again. I really enjoyed how Stephen King gave a short synopsis at the beginning of each one, and the banter between him and Bev at the end was great.

Again & again and AGAIN!!!!

The authors are true to the bone. The readers are top-notch. A few had me looking for a few days. Some of the authors are new to me. Not for long. Every anthology King "throws" together is well worth the top shelf in my library. I've been reading his books most of my life. Gory, bloody, evil and even funny. I can't wait until the next one. Stephen King, "I'm your number 2 fan (Tabby is your first 🙃)

Enjoyable read

I really enjoyed the short stories. Some I liked more than others. Two of them I listened to twice. I have a fear of flying and this didn’t play into my anxiety. I would listen to this on a plane.

Flight or Fright

All the stories are related to air travel.Stephen King does some narrating. Some good ,some iffy stories. Narration by several people was very good. I prefer longer stories.

Unfortunately, Just So So

Some stories are very good, one I skipped past because it just droned on an don, none were particularly scary. Happy to have the book, but I won't re-listen to it, I'm sure.

Only Joe shines

Just so so. The only story that lifted me up and at the same time had that deep underlying The-Sky-is-falling feeling was the one from Joe Hill. Not precisely dad's level, yet, but it would make a wonderful first chapter for a his own post-apocalyptic novel.

keeper

I have taken advantage of the return policy many times but I won't be returning this one. Joe Hill's story alone is worth a credit. Great collaboration and collection

mostly good novels in this collection

There were 2 novels I skipped right over after a few minutes in, the story line was so boring I found myself thinking of other things. However the majority of these novels are good, and 2 of them are so exceptional that I paused the book to mull over what I'd just heard - those types are my favorite!
