About this listen

Mile 81 meets "N." in this collaboration between Stephen King and Joe Hill.

As USA Today said of Stephen King's Mile 81: "Park and scream. Could there be any better place to set a horror story than an abandoned rest stop?" In the Tall Grass begins with a sister and brother who pull off to the side of the road after hearing a young boy crying for help from beyond the tall grass. Within minutes they are disoriented, in deeper than seems possible, and they've lost one another. The boy's cries are more and more desperate. What follows is a terrifying, entertaining, and masterfully told tale, as only Stephen King and Joe Hill can deliver.

If you enjoy King, this is a must.
I made the mistake of listening to it one day while I wasn’t focused and ended up completely lost. So, I listened again. Ahhhhh ........ that’s better.
If you watched the movie first, expect a lot of difference.

Enjoyed

The story is awesome. it grabs you when it starts and holds you. just as the book begins it's build it ends. Fantastic story but it ends as the story begins. I would have expected more from these two powerhouse horror authors. they could have easily produced an incredible novel with this start to a story.

Where does In the Tall Grass rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I love ALL Stephen King Novels...Cant rank them, they are all GOOD

What other book might you compare In the Tall Grass to and why?

Horns by Joe Hill. Both stories involve something 'weird' happening in the middle of innocent looking fields/woods that no one would believe could happen

What does Stephen Lang bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

King has a way of making the ordinary.... extraordinary

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

On Mile 81...Keep the windows up and the radio on

Creepy but Good story

Great narrating But, the story felt hollow In need of "fleshing" out so to speak

Another "maybe" by Stephen King

Stephen Lang is a superb reader. The story itself is well written and well paced. But this kind of story- I won’t spoil things- just doesn’t work for me.

Subjective rejection

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I wouldn't recommend this book. I have always been a King fan and I've heard really good things about Joe Hill. I wanted to like it, but I couldn't.

Have you listened to any of Stephen Lang’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've never heard an audiobook read by Stephen Lang, but he does an excellent job--just not quite enough to save a mediocre story.

Great start...not much else
