About this listen

A wealthy noblewoman. A desperate knight. A dangerous secret that threatens their love…and their lives. If you’re looking for a good, clean listen that combines the setting and mood of a medieval fairy tale with the heat of historical romance - you found it!

Lady Sabine is harboring a skin blemish that, if revealed, could cause her to be branded as a witch, put her life in danger, and damage her chances of making a good marriage. No nobleman would want to marry a woman so flawed…and a possible witch at that.

Sir Bennet is returning home to protect his family from an imminent attack by neighboring lords who seek repayment of debts. Without fortune or means to pay those debts, Sir Bennet realizes his only option is to make a marriage match with a wealthy noblewoman. As a man of honor, he loathes the idea of courting a woman for her money, but with time running out for his family’s safety, what other choice does he have?

As Lady Sabine and Sir Bennet are thrust together under dangerous circumstances, will they both be able to learn to trust each other enough to share their deepest secrets? Or will those secrets ultimately lead to their demise?

Good moral to the story

A Cinderella story with a different twist. I liked the moral of the story, and the plot was good enough to give this story a five if it hadn't had some unrealistic parts, and if the characters would have had gallbladder surgery to get their bile problems under control. A little sappy, as it didn't always pass the eye-rolling test.

I was disappointed that this narrator hadn't improved by the third book. While her character voices are good and tone pleasant, she simply fails to be dramatic during the very dramatic parts of the script and soft and tender during the gentle, quiet parts. It detracts from the emotion of the story.

Ehhhh Just Ok

I feel like this could of been a YA listen and not a HR. I also feel like the narrator voice is too modern for a story that takes place in the 1300's. It was just ok to me, I mostly skipped around. It couldn't hold my attention.

Knights and Maidens

I found this book to be a bit 'corny'. I have enjoyed her other books.

MY FAVORITE BOOK OF ALL TIME!!!

Hands down best book and best series I have ever read/listened to! And the narration is amazing!!! In both the book and the audio you can clearly tell which of the main characters’ perspectives you are hearing at that point in the story. Very highly recommend to anyone who loves historical fiction romance!

Excellent! I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Loved it, narration good though a bit singular to the ear, got easier to follow over time.

Manny Pamby

Silly ideals and over idealistic youth. I would rather die and kill all the people here than make a practical choice and save the people and the treasures……gag. Don’t waste your time

It started well...

What!? Wait... how did she get there? What’s happening ? !! This book started well, but then got so confusing I thought I was listening to a different book!
Sadly what started out as s fun concept and pretty good characters turned into a jumble of confusion. I had to turn it off. Please Rewrite and let me know !!! I liked it. At first . (I got lost after the closet.... when their castle suddenly was under attack. Go back to the closet.... then clarify ?)
Best of luck . Don’t give up. It started well.

Not her best.

I love Jody Hedlund, but this was not of the same caliber. The format, first person narration, was awkward and the narrator was awful.
