Publisher's summary

After the tragic death of his wife, Jasper, the 8th Duke of Bainbridge buried himself away in the dark cold walls of his home, Castle Blackwood. When he's coaxed out of his self-imposed exile to attend the amusements of the Frost Fair, his life is irrevocably changed by his fateful meeting with Lady Katherine Adamson. With her tight brown ringlets and silly white-ruffled gowns, Lady Katherine Adamson has found her dance card empty for two Seasons. After her father's passing, Katherine learned the unreliability of men, and is determined to depend on no one, except herself. Until she meets Jasper. In a desperate bid to avoid a match arranged by her family, Katherine makes the Duke of Bainbridge a shocking proposition; one that he accepts. Only, as Katherine begins to love Jasper, she finds the arrangement agreed upon is not enough. And Jasper is left to decide if protecting his heart is more important than fighting for Katherine's love.

Such a great listen!

Any additional comments?

I can't wait for the sisters story next! This was such a nice listen, love, anguish, the evil parents only out for themselves and making their kids lives so much harder....oh, and a hot duke!

A wonderful narration of such a romantic novel!

Would you consider the audio edition of For Love of the Duke to be better than the print version?

Both are just as romantic and wonderful. The narrator does an excellent job with the different voices, both male and female. I truly enjoyed listening to it. I have read the book as well.

What was one of the most memorable moments of For Love of the Duke?

Their first encounter, meet at the bookstore, the proposal.... I'm still listening to the story.

Which scene was your favorite?

There were many. The proposal. Their kissing scenes.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

I found this story to be quite romantic and fun. I'd highly recommend this audiobook and Christi Caldwell's novels.

Just Good

I will always be a fan of Christi cald but i havebt akways found a consistency in her books. Either they're very tame or very provocative. I prefer the later

Very enjoyable

A lovely passionate story. Well narrated. The verbal sparring between the two main characters was witty and funny at times. The Duke was hard to like at first but he slowly became more likeable towards the end.

Good, but needs work

Other Caldwell books are more fun and have a higher humor factor which I appreciate. This book felt like an abridged version and story points or segues were omitted.

Characters a Mystery.

Storyline could have been great, but characters undeveloped. I love to leave a book wishing the characters were real -- so my expectations are high. The Duke's thoughts, never words, did not do enough to endear the reader to him. Never did the Duke speak a kind word to his only friend. Why then, did that friend stick around? We are left to wonder that point. Twin sister played as a side line, and not critical to story, which was an opportunity missed. PERFORMANCE good, but the low, monotone Duke voice was not pleasing.

Wow! What a great story and narration!

I absolutely loved this story! The hero, Jasper was devastated at his loss and then comes the heroine, Katherine, she was fantastic! Loved her. She was strong, funny, witty and just perfect for our broken hero. They made a perfect couple. There was a couple of very nicely written sex scenes.

The story line was truly a wonderful love story and flowed very nicely. There was not as much dialogue as I normally like but there was still enough and it was great!

I totally recommend this book for sure!

As for the narration, one of the very best I have listened to in a long time. She made a fantastic story even better with her wonderful narration. Everyone had their own distinct voice and she read with emotion as called for. Her reading voice was beautiful. Loved it! I do hope Morag Sims narrates many many more books. I will be looking for her narrations!

I certainly hope that the next book in this series More Than a Duke is released on audible very soon and narrated by Morag Sims! I will be watching for it! Fingers crossed.

Great start for a new series.

I enjoyed the story and satisfied with the narration. The reason its a 4 star is because of the repetitive explanation of the characters past for their current actions or feelings. After it being said once or twice in the beginning of the story, I think the reader already has the understanding of the why's of their actions. Waste of space and it could've been used to extend the very short Part 2.

With these two issues I had, it wouldn't deter me from listening to the next book. I will add Ms. Caldwell in my mental list of good reads and Ms. Sims in my must listen list.

Happy Listening/Reading :-)
