About this listen

An American heiress married for her dowry.

When Victoria fell in love with the Earl of Pembroke, she never imagined he'd heartlessly wed, bed, and abandon her in the countryside. After he suddenly returns, determined to prove to her he's a changed man, she's not about to forgive him, trust him, or succumb to his scorching kisses.

A future duke trapped by obligation.

Will has devoted his life to enraging his loathsome father by creating one scandal after the next. Duty forces him back to the wife he resents, but he isn't prepared for the raw desire she makes him feel. Seducing her will hardly be a tedious task. Guarding his heart, however, is another matter entirely.

A marriage of convenience no more.

What begins in deception and necessity turns into an attraction neither can deny. Can their newfound passion keep them together forever, or will the truth tear them apart?

Contains mature themes.

Okay

This story had potential but the female lead was too forgiving, succumbed to her wayward husband’s sexual advances too much plus too much sex for a short book. Would have liked to have more conflict with the father & male lead , and having more proof of changing his lifestyle. Also would have liked to hear more from his opera singer lover’s attempts to get him back. I think probably book too short to build real interest by the reader.

Horrible Narration!!

Like previous reviewers, the narrator is absolutely horrible! I too will be looking for her name in other audible books. Not to listen to! I really could like the series but I don't think I could get through gabby's voice through another book!

Heroine was weak & manipulated by her husband

I was disappointed in this book. The first two books by Scarlett Scott that I listened to were Lady Ruthless & Lady Wallflower. The female leads were smart, strong & independent. I loved these books. The protagonist is weak and easily manipulated. The narrator’s “American”
Accent was flat and lacklustre. Try another of her books instead.

Loved the story

This book really tells how much work a marriage is or can be. I’m moving on the book 2

Interesting

Not so much the book as to say the turn out is the same just taking a different direction

Beautiful story of forgiveness!

It’s called “wicked husbands “ for a reason. I thought it was lovely. I love that he changed his wicked ways.

Light and sweet

Cute story. I wish there was a better resolution with his father but otherwise it was worth a pleasant afternoon

Sadly, a Great Disappointment

The premise of the story had potential but the execution -- in both writing and narration -- fell short of the mark. The plot never delves beyond the simplistic. Other than the "wicked husband," who is more emotionally stunted than rascally, there is little character development. The narration is so-so, with accent quirkiness abounding, although she did pretty well with the characters she had to work with. I'm more hopeful than confident that future novels will improve. Ms. Scott, pleasepleaseplease prove me wrong.

Tough to listen

I liked the story, which I had read it instead of listened. The narrator has a lisp and it made it hard to focus on the story, I might dig up physical copies to get the rest of the books in the series. I liked the narrators cadence and performance, but the lisp was hard to get into.

Decent story, a bit iffy on the "American" accent

in general, it's a cute story with some steamy scenes.
the only downside is that whenever the narrator attempts the American accent, it just comes off as a bizarre mixture of Irish meet British verbiage and a bit cringe (which is unfortunate because the main female character is an American). it is very clear that the narrator is unfamiliar with American / NY accent, and it may have been less cringe and a bit easier to listen if she just didn't attempt to do the accent at all.
