About this listen

Mitch Albom mesmerized readers around the world with his number one New York Times best sellers, The Five People You Meet in Heaven and Tuesdays with Morrie. Now he returns with a beautiful, haunting novel about the family we love and the chances we miss.

For One More Day is the story of a mother and a son, and a relationship that covers a lifetime and beyond. It explores the question: What would you do if you could spend one more day with a lost loved one?

As a child, Charley "Chick" Benetto was told by his father, "You can be a mama's boy or a daddy's boy, but you can't be both." So he chooses his father, only to see the man disappear when Charley is on the verge of adolescence. Decades later, Charley is a broken man. His life has been crumbled by alcohol and regret. He loses his job. He leaves his family. He hits bottom after discovering his only daughter has shut him out of her wedding. And he decides to take his own life.

Worth the time, but not over the top.

Good little read.

There are no big surprises or real twists here, and nothing much that will make your pulse quicken, but it's a sweet celebration of a mother's love for her son and how we come to understand our parents better when we are adults. If you know what this book is going into it, and you choose it, you will probably enjoy it.

Heartwarming and a bit cliche

Another great story about death and Life. We all have to figure out how to age well. This book helps.

We shouldnt have to die or be near death to live the truth. Today so many lead fake lives of lies. This is why we all crave the truth that President Trump speaks every day

Would you listen to For One More Day again? Why?

Absolutely! Because is a beautiful story. With a very important lesson that nobody should forget; however we all take for granted all the people, places and circumstances that matter the most. Is a beautiful reminder.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I don't remember her name but it was the cleaning lady. She saw things for what they were. People of limited resources most of the time see the best of anything, and she was just that. A wise woman who saw people and not material things.

Which scene was your favorite?

When the main character ""survived" all of his suicide attempts. He needed to learn and to see his mom one more time.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I had a all kind of emotions and reactions. I laughed, I cried, It made me call my mother, but in general I think it made me a better person.

Any additional comments?

I love Mitch Album's books, I love the fact that he puts the emotions in which he wrote the book on his reading. I love audible because I don't waste my time anymore with radio stations and commercials. I learned everyday a bit more. And the best is that I can re-visit my library and listen to my beautiful treasures as much as I want. Audio books are the best invention. Thank you. :)

A beautiful second chance.

A wonderful and peaceful story written by a kind and gentle soul. Mitch Albom shares with us a story of a broken man who needs a little guidance and seeks a little forgiveness. I love all of Mitch Albom's stories and this short story about Chick Benetto is no different. Mitch's stories have a way to make you feel at home, where his words can warm a blanket around you, comfort you, even if it's for one more day.

Mitch does it again. I giggled, cried, and contemplated life in this ghost story of sorts. Every family has one. This story needed to be told. It’s inspiring.
