Publisher's summary

Derk finally has the beginnings of a force to stand up to the Demigods.

But his estranged mother-in-law is building an army to follow. With orders to crush him before he can become anything more than a nuisance to her master.

He and his wives must travel through a desert, filled with mysteries and hidden dangers while outrunning an army six times their size.

All in a bid to find a place to fortify and call his own. Where he can build his army and his power to strike back against those aligned against him.

There happens to be such a place. Built for him a thousand years before in preparation for this day. Which has a long-forgotten secret buried underneath it. One that can change everything.

Continue Derk's epic sage in Book 3, the longest book in the series to date.

Now we're getting to the good stuff!

The story has progress to a really good point. The revelations towards the end of the book are just...BOOM, mind blowing. This was probably my favorite episode/volume so far. Marcuss Jahn did an excellent job narrating. That is a huge compliment from me since I've been a negative critic of his work since the first book. Once again, the writing is spectacular! You want this series.

Accents on point

Absolutely loved how Sarah portrayed tal with her Irish accent. It was super well done, I was anticipating the next time I could hear it. As for the plot, it was well thought out and if you love meddling gods then this is definitely for you

This series just keeps getting better.

Derk now has a small army and more women in his harem.
He's taking his group in the direction his benefactor is guiding him.
He has his ex girlfriend from earth as his helpful AI and a mental sanctum to help him and protect him.
Lots of exciting stuff revealed in this book.
If you liked the first two books, you are in for a treat with this one.
Big 5 stars for this series, and this book in particular.
If you are a HaremLit fan you're going to definitely want this in your library.

Great Book

Interesting plot line with good characters. Good continuity through the series and I’m interested to get to the 4th and final book in this story.

A great book 3

Book 3 is great, don't start here though if your looking. Start at book one as the series is amazing. The narrators are great and haven't changed which helps in series. Dirk and his group grow a little stronger but Sire is still the main power in the world. The next one should be a great story with the battle that has to be coming up between them.

(Redacted for Amazon)! That was good.

When it comes to a sequel, I am personally looking for everything that made the last book worth it and then some. In my opinion that is this book. First and foremost, we get a bit of a refresher of what previously took place. Not every author's willing to do that and those that do sometimes arguably get too in-depth. The one that is present in this book is just enough to refresh the memory, which for me was much appreciated as a significant number of things have happened since the last book was released and I found myself having some difficulty remembering this story. As we move into the first part of the book, we get a better understanding of exactly how the universe is a part of a life cycle and how previous beings of immeasurable power have set up a sort of a trap for the most advanced societies which tend to also be the most aggressive. You could hypothesize that this is so those hyper aggressive societies that tend to conquer the universe don't break the cycle. Regardless our hero and his lovely ladies are very much dealing with real world consequences with the highest of stakes. Our hero has approximately 500 people now under his banner and an enemy army trying to chase him down. As this is book three anybody who is returning to this story likely knows what they're getting themselves into and for those who haven't yet bought in to the series, you're definitely missing out. As for the narration team I have enjoyed their performance in this book. The gentleman narrator started a bit rough but has since gotten some seasoning and as such his performances have improved. I'm going to leave an edited version of my book one and two reviews for anybody who's new to this series to read and see if they're interested in getting in on the fun. If you get to the end of this story and can't wait for the next audio release, then book 4 is sort of available. You can start reading through Kindle Vella Stories (PawnStorm). Lastly, I'll just say well done to everybody who had a hand in bringing this story to us, the Audible listeners.

Book 2 Review

Our hero is still struggling with fighting fire with fire while trying to make it his own, sort of speak. He is vigilant to not allow the power to corrupt him. An additional lady is added towards the end of the book for which I doubt anybody who's reading it would be surprised. And there's something of a game plan as to how they're going to fight back. You learn more about the aliens who are controlling this simulation. Now this is a dual narration book assuming that you haven't listen to the first one. The narrators work for a company called Actors Everywhere and I have had the opportunity to listen to a substantial amount of audio books performed by their employees. This team appears to me to be among their newer teams. Sarah Goldstein did a fantastic job on the first book and did not disappoint here either. Marcus Jahn on the other hand had some rough spots. I recall at the time of the last review that I had mentioned that his character performances were hit or miss and that I could not tell whether or not it was him attempting to give himself room to grow the characters in the future or if it was just a new narrator suffering from inexperience. Regardless of what it may have been, the performance has been refined here in the second book. My major concern was for the main character and that has been improved by leaps and bounds. If there was one rough spot that still needs a little sanding, I would say that it is the narrator’s choice of voice for the character called the controller. Fortunately, that character is not prominent in the second book and was easy to get the information from the scenes while overlooking the roughness. Finally for my personal preference I am usually not a fan of books where the story is taking place in the digital space. To me they tend to feel as though nothing really matters. This series however I have enjoyed greatly, and it feels like the stakes are real. There's a weight to the story.

Book 1 Review

With regard to this book, it appears that the narration team as well as the author are relatively new to this kind of work. I am familiar with the company that the narration team works for. In my experience they have never done anything less than stellar work. I do not believe that this is the first book that the narration team has worked on, but they still are on the new side. As far as the lady narrator is concerned, I think she hit it out of the park. As for the gentleman narrator, I am unsure as to whether or not he's leaving himself room to develop the character as far as he can in subsequent books or if he's just in need of a little seasoning. It came off as being a little over the top and some of the supporting characters sounded almost wooden. As for the author as I said he also appears to be new. It looks like he was a part of some collaboration that released on September 23rd of 2021. And then he's got a book that came out November 7th, 2021. Then there's this one and its sequel which already is available for preorder and should be released April 15th, 2022. In the aforementioned context I think the story was really beautifully written. I certainly enjoyed it and was thoroughly entertained. There's definitely a lot in the story for him to make this possibly a 12-book series at least. I'm not sure he'll go in that direction right out the gate, but I haven't heard anything as to whether he intends to do a trilogy or a full-blown series. As for the story, we have got evil aliens with enough power to be mistaken as gods. Worse they are bored and so some are messing with mortals. We have got an MC on an advanced earth who is killed and is transported to a new world. It is our MC versus one of the bored aliens. Then we have multiple fantasy races and for humanity the ladies are in charge due to their witchy powers. It is a classic good versus bad kind of story where the good guy finds himself having to commit an evil for the greater good, sort of speak. It looks like one of the problems for the MC is struggling with the fact that he has to do almost the exact same thing as the villain in order to defeat him. I am interested in how that is going to evolve.
