Four of a Kind is an Erotic Romance short story involving three guys, Blake, Preston and Conrad and a woman named Leah. The story follows these people through the years and tells the reader how they met and got together. I found the story likable enough but there were numerous things that I feel were screwy or missing so I'm rating Four of a Kind at just below average.
The biggest problem I have with this story is the way it's set up. There are scenes written in both the first and third person. Plus the whole following the characters through the years thing would have been a lot easier to understand if there was something in the text about it. You get that info from the blurb only. The passing years are never mentioned. The scenes just jump around in time and POV. The only way you know that years have passed is because in one scene Leah & Blake are in college, in another scene Blake's now an intern and in another scene Leah is working at a "grown-up job". All the author had to do was write present, 10 years ago, or however many years ago at the scene changes. Another thing that irked me was that the connections between the characters were extremely minimal and totally unbelievable IMO.
On the positive side of things Michelle Jones did an excellent job with the narration. I had no issue getting used to her style and she did pretty good with the acting. I was mostly impressed with the way she was able to portray each character as separate beings with more than just a voice change. Each character had their own speech pattern and tone. My only complaint is that she forgot to switch up her voice/tone/accent a few times.

I enjoyed this book although it was not what I was expecting. It is short so it does jump straight in, forgive the corny joke. It is an interesting take on the reverse harem type book.

I have listened to several erotic stories voiced by this narrator, and I feel her voice and way of reading are exceptionally well-suited for this genre. I think it’s audible that she is committed to narrating it well, making the (very) thin plots that she often has to deal with very enjoyable to listen to. I don’t think I would have enjoyed this story at all had I read it, but listening to this narrator makes all of it fun inspite of the quality of writing (or lack thereof).
This story is of course way too short to pay a credit for. I also think that charging 6-7 dollars for only 1 hour is ridiculous, even more so when the writing is not at all exceptional (which this is definitely not).

This book could have been a 5++ book! I personally would have loved to have it move a little slower and with more explanations of stuff.
