Publisher's summary

In Book Four of Love by the Yard: Beaumont Guthry, in his short time in the sport, prepares to step out of the shadow as a backup quarterback and into the spotlight as he takes over the Chicago Grizzlies. The team may be desperate for a quarterback, but Beau fears his style might get him benched before the first pass is in the air. For Beau, it will be the first time his father’s money won’t help to smooth over any missteps he makes.

The thirst for knowledge is what has kept Esme Carmichael in college for the last eight years. When her parents draw a line in the sand, forcing her to pick a degree and graduate, Esme realizes her biggest worry in the last decade has been could she swing more than two hours sleep a night. Esme, instead of the four walls and security of a classroom, is faced with the future, one which petrifies her.

Meeting Beau seemed to be the perfect distraction she needed. What she didn’t count on was his past derailing their chance for a relationship - a relationship, she nor he signed up for. It was supposed to be a simple deal - sex - no strings, no complications.

My first book by this author.

Fourth and Goal is the first book I’ve read by Michel Prince and the first audiobook I’ve listened to by Logan McAllister. I enjoyed the story but I think I might have enjoyed it more if I’d read it with my eyes. Logan McAllister did a decent job narrating it but I think his voice just wasn’t right for me at the time I listened to Fourth and Goal. Sometimes it takes me more than one audiobook to get used to a narrator so that also could have factored into it.

The story was good and hot! Beau’s father is a jerk and I’m sure readers are supposed to hate his character and I certainly did. Esme is a bit of a spoiled rich girl but she really comes through for Beau when he needs her. It takes Beau a while to get his confidence when it comes to leading the Grizzlies as their starting quarterback but he eventually does a great job of leading the team. My favorite character of the story was Beau’s much younger brother, Conner.

My favorite!💜

This was a fantastic story. This was my favorite story in this series so far. Sometimes a sports romance is more than the game on the field. I enjoyed the connection between the main characters as well as the disconnect among the team. There was family issues and despair but also strong family
bonds. This book has it all. The narration was fantastic. Logan McAllister is well suited for this series and it’s characters. This is book 4 with an HEA and can be read as a standalone. I recommend this book/series!
