Publisher's summary

USA Today best-selling author Lexy Timms delivers a tender story of how the heart finds love in the most unexpected places.

“His body is perfect. He’s got this face that isn’t just heart-melting but actually kind of exotic....”

Lillian Warren’s life is just how she’s designed it. She has a high-paying job working with celebrities and the elite, teaching them how to better organize their lives. She’s on her own, the days quiet, but she likes it that way, especially since she’s still figuring out how to live with her recent diagnosis of Crohn’s disease. Her cats keep her company, and she’s not the least bit lonely.

Fun-loving personal trainer Cayden thinks his neighbor is a killjoy. He’s only seen her a few times, and the woman looks like she needs a drink or three. He knows how to party and decides to invite her to over - if he can find her. What better way to impress her than take care of her overgrown yard? She proceeds to thank him by throwing up in his painstakingly trimmed-to-perfection bushes.

Something about the fragile, mysterious woman captivates him.

Something about this rough-on-the-outside bear-of-a-man attracts Lily, despite her heart warning her to tread carefully.

Nice, romantic escapism with a touch of reality

This is a sweet story with a fairly uncomplicated plot involving a typically pretty protagonist and her typically hunky love interest who share an unusual but fairly unremarkable meet cute. Thus begins a mildly steamy but not overly provocative description of the development of their romantic relationship, Their flirtation and courtship would be pretty formulaic, were it not for the touch of reality that helps this story stand out from others very like it: that is, the inclusion of some backstory elements, a past death and a recent, serious medical diagnosis. These issues help add gravitas to a plot in which the only other conflict — the question of will they or won’t they — is a laughably foregone conclusion. The more serious issues in the background of the story give it a much needed edge through the looming threat of pain and loss, which rescue it from drowning in its twee predictability. So disease and death are central to the plot here — not in the Nicholas Sparks way, thank goodness, but just because they bring the usual silliness down to earth a bit. My only complaints are 1. that the rest of this series (two sequels) are not also available as audiobooks and 2. I think I might have enjoyed it more with a female narrator, just because the third person limited narrative is from the female protagonist’s perspective. But, that said, the male narrator does an okay job.

Loved it

Lexy Timms always does a great job telling her stories! Fragile Touch was slightly different but did not disappoint. Look forward to hearing the rest of this series.
