About this listen
This is ridiculous. I mean seriously. I work for years, since I was in high school for crap’s sake, to be prepared for any emergency, anytime. I study, I train, I keep up with the news. I look for new products, I scour the web for suggestions about things I should always have on hand. I took training courses. First aid, advanced life saving, volunteered for my local fire department and trained to fight fire, extricate people from crushed cars, whatever the situation called for. I took private, and expensive, training programs for almost every kind of scenario or event I could imagine, read about, or hear a rumor of. Plague? Got it. Nuclear, Biological or Chemical attack, by terrorists or in war, either one? Got that too. Massive earthquake like that one in Japan that tore up the nuclear plant? Ready for it. Horrendous hurricane that levels everything in its path? Even though I lived hundreds of miles inland, still prepared for it. Could work for tornado outbreaks too after all, right?
After all that time, sweat, money and even a little blood, what do I get? What great, earth changing event happens? Zombies. The friggin’ Zombie Apocalypse.

Story
In the wake of the cataclysmic events that reshaped our world in 2020, a sense of relief washed over us all. By late 2023, I think we were ready to just live life again. I know I was. It was a time to make new friends and put the past to rest. Rayne and I hadn’t known each other long, but we were building a solid friendship, nothing more. It was our common interests that sent us on vacation together to my remote cabin. What we didn’t, couldn’t know, was that we were on a collision course with the end of the world as we knew it.

Story
BANGKOK, MARCH 2018. The world looked on in horror as millions of innocent lives were snuffed out in a matter of hours. Countless men, women and children slaughtered without mercy, torn apart by a violent mob that attacked without reason, motive or warning. Tom Freeman witnessed the aftermath. He reported on the tragedy and looked into the eyes of the sole survivor, an old friend, and what he saw looking back sent him running home to the United States. Back to safety. Back to a place where the world made sense, and the putrid stink of the dead didn't haunt his nightmares.

Story
Before the lights went out, Jack Warrant never considered himself a prepper. That was someone on the edge, a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday cultist who had a fatalistic view of the world. He was neither a theorist nor a cultist. He was an optimist. At least that was what he told himself when the darker thoughts creeped into his psyche as he stared at the ceiling in the middle of the night. Whenever he started down the rabbit hole, he always clawed his way back into the sunlight.

Romance novel, with a few zombies thrown in
First off, the narrator is what got me into this book. He reminds me of Mike Talbot (IYKYK). But that’s where the similarities end.
This grown man spent most of the book talking about his love and infatuation for his doctor, turned girlfriend. There were mention of zombies here and there, but no REAL zombie action. This is basically a book about how the guy gets the girl, when the zombie apocalypse started. That’s it. That’s all.

Whoa
I love the idea of a ZA story. This one was great coming from the view of the start until the "end". I really hope there is another book to follow.

Best beginning of the zombie apocalypse book
I love zombie stories that start in the beginning, such as an infection that made people sick and turned them into zombies. This book has all of that and how people planned to survive the zombie apocalypse. This is one of the best zombie apocalypse books I’ve read this year. I hope he does more to the story.

Friggin Zombies
Let me start off with "Odd Billy Todd" is one of my all time favorite books. (Listened to it multiple times) So when I saw this by N.C. Reed, I immediately purchased it, stopped what I was currently listening to, and started this. I love zombie apocalypse stories that detail the early days. I enjoyed the characters. I laughed over the one liners and sarcastic humor. My only complaint is the book ended after only 6 1/2 hours without a 2nd book in the series. Please continue this story line! I am re-listening to it now as I write this review.

Wish it was a series.
I loved it! The main character was awesome and got things done. I also loved how his love interest was intelligent and wasn’t some sniveling coward or whiny pain in the butt who only lived because of people who were prepared and stronger. I would totally recommend this.

Love it!⭐️⭐️⭐️
And I can’t wait for more! NC Reed came to my attention with his Fire in the Sky books and I’ll be a loyal reader forever. If this becomes a series I’ll be the first to buy every book.
