Clayton Sanders left home the minute he had his high school diploma in hand. He waited that long only because the army wouldn't accept him without one.
Now, 10 years later, he's home, with no warning, no advance notice, no anything after being gone 10 years with almost no contact with his family. Home carrying a secret that is burning him up from the inside. A secret that has pushed him to the brink, forcing him to become a criminal in order to be where his family needs him to be, even though they don't realize it yet.
Because Clayton knows something they don't. Something that hasn't happened but will. Something that will burn everything it touches. And change the face of the world forever.

I've read several complaints about the narrator. I think he did a good job. He has a style of narrating just like all narrators do. His style may not be for everyone, but I believe he did justice to the story in his style. If you don't like his style, move on. I've done that with other narrators without leaving a review blasting them.
I've also listened to Odd Billy Todd and the Parno series and enjoyed each of them the same.
Ignore the criticism and listen to this series.

Love it!

When you have a young, Army Ranger who’s “voice” sounds like he’s in his 80’s instead of 20’s, the story takes a hit. A big hit.
Every character except the grandfather, who reminded me of a Looney Toons version of a “really old guy”, sound exactly the same - men, women and children. Okay, some female characters sound a bit different….but similar to grandpa, sound like a caricature.
Additionally, there’s not the slightest pause between change from characters’ conversations/locations, though that may merely be a result of poor editing. Either way, when Clay & his dad are discussing supplies but suddenly Laney (Lanie?) and grandpa are talking business somewhere across town, the two groups’ conversations tend to slide or merge without a slight pause. Annoying.
Otherwise….pretty entertaining.
Pity about the narrator

It seems slow at times but...

Fire from the Sky, has the benefit of having some advance notice of the impending disaster. The really good part is having some really smart and level headed people looking at a complex problem with short time to prepare and seeing the solutions from different points of view; medical, agricultural, emergency management, the list goes on and on. The characters are well developed. The narration is good. Can’t wait to hear the next book in the series!
Good post digital civilization survival book!
