About this listen

Women write horror and have written it since before Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein. This anthology highlights the fact that women write great horror and kills the fallacy that they aren't in some way up to standard. They are. Hear stories by Elizabeth Massie, Nina Kiriki Hoffman, Lucy Taylor, and a plethora of other great writers as they work on your nerves, get inside your head, and bang out some of the scariest tales written today. I'm proud to present these women for your consideration, as Rod Serling might say, as I ask you to step into Fright Mare. Lock the door and windows, put on a light, and remember, it's not real. It's not real. Midnight awaits, monsters scheme to take you away, the strange and weird wait in the shadows, but it's not real. Is it?

Edited by Billie Sue Mosiman, the author who brought you the Sinister: Tales of Dread collections and her latest suspense novel, The Grey Matter.

Only a few of the stories were good. None of them were scary. A couple of them aren't even horror stories. Some were so bad that I didn't even make it through them.

The narrator wasn't terrible. However, he did mispronounce a few words.

I would pass on this one.

If you like short stories, and horror, do not miss this one! Every short was a gem of the macabre!

loved every single short!!

I really enjoyed this collection. It was very interesting to listen to macabre stories that were all written by women. I definitely found many of these to be more horrifying and lingering than much gorier stories. The narrator has an interesting voice and inflections that I was not too sure about at first, but he definitely grew on me and added greatly to the stories.

Great stories

The narrator must have been the last man left on earth for the job...at least that is what you think when you listen to him....nasal, shaky voice, monotone. Anyone could have done better. The stories themselves may be good by you can't get past the person narrating it to actually enjoy them. Save your money and move on to a different audible. I WANT MY MONEY BACK.
